The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) ( mi, Te Tari o te Pirimia me te Komiti Matua) is the central public service department of New Zealand charged with providing support and advice to the governor-general, the prime minister and members of the Cabinet of New Zealand. The department is also charged with centrally leading New Zealand's "national security planning, which includes civil defence." Kirklees Metropolitan Council
Kirklees Council is the local authority providing most local government services for the borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is a metropolitan district council and one of five constituent councils of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority. History Kirklees Council was established in 1974 by the Local Government Act 1972, with the first elections being held in advance in 1973. The council was initially a second-tier authority, with West Yorkshire County Council providing many key services. However, the metropolitan county councils were abolished by the Local Government Act 1985, and so in 1986 Kirklees Council took over responsibility for most of these functions within the borough. John Harman (British Politician)
Sir John Andrew Harman DL (born 30 July 1950, Castleford) is a former Chairman of the Environment Agency. Early life He attended the independent St George's College, Weybridge. From the University of Manchester he gained a BSc degree in maths, then did a PGCE at Huddersfield College of Education. Career He was a maths teacher at Greenhead College in Huddersfield from 1973–9. He was Head of Maths at Barnsley Sixth Form College from 1979–90, then Senior Maths Lecturer at Barnsley College (it took over the sixth form college) from 1990–7. He became a member of the UK Labour Party from 1977 and was elected to the West Yorkshire Metropolitan Council. Angus Grossart
Sir Angus McFarlane McLeod Grossart (6 April 1937 – 13 May 2022) was a Scottish businessman who was the founder, chairman and executive director of Edinburgh-based merchant bank Noble Grossart. Personal life Grossart was born on 6 April 1937 in Carluke, Lanarkshire, one of three sons to Mary and William Grossart. He was schooled at The Glasgow Academy. He proudly recalled honing his business skills at a Barrowlands stall selling reject toffee. As a young man, he displayed a talent for golf and was runner-up in the 1957 British youth championships. He studied law at the University of Glasgow and studied for the Scottish Bar in Edinburgh under James MacKay. Tom Farmer
Sir Thomas Farmer, (born 10 July 1940) is a Scottish entrepreneur. Early life One of seven siblings in a devoutly Catholic family, in 1964 Farmer founded his own tyre retailing business which he sold in 1969 for £450,000. Farmer retired to the United States, but became bored and decided to find a new challenge. Business career Farmer returned to Edinburgh to found the Kwik Fit chain of garages in 1971. The firm grew quickly, mainly through acquisition, including opening in the Netherlands in 1975. Farmer was named Scottish Businessman of the Year in 1989. After building the chain to become the world's largest independent tyre and automotive repair specialists with over 2,000 centres operating in 18 different countries, Farmer sold the firm to Ford in 1999 for more than £1 billion. Sir John Grimley Evans (17 September 1936 – 26 March 2018) was a British gerontologist. Early life and education Grimley Evans was born in Birmingham to Harry Walter Grimley Evans and Violet Prenter Walker on 17 September 1936. He attended King Edward's School, Birmingham, and studied at St John's College, Cambridge and Balliol College, Oxford. Roger William Cork
Sir Roger William Cork (31 March 1947 – 21 October 2002) was a British accountant and insolvency expert, and the 669th Lord Mayor of London (from 1996 to 1997). Roger Cork was born on 31 March 1947 in Hatch End, Middlesex, the son of Sir Kenneth Cork. He went to St Martin’s School, Northwood, and then to Uppingham. Cork followed his father as alderman for Tower ward in 1983, and was Sheriff of the City in 1992-93. He was president of the Institute of Credit Management. The title and job role of His Majesty's Chief Inspector of Fire and Rescue Services in England, Scotland and Wales is combined with that known as Fire and Rescue Adviser (or Government Fire and Rescue Adviser) appointed by the devolved and national governments of the United Kingdom.
