The 1991 French Open was a tennis tournament that took place on the outdoor clay courts at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. The tournament was held from 27 May until 9 June. It was the 95th staging of the French Open, and the second Grand Slam tennis event of 1991. Art Larsen
Arthur David "Art" or "Tappy" Larsen (April 17, 1925 – December 7, 2012) was an American No. 1 male tennis player best remembered for his victory at the U.S. Championships in 1950 and for his eccentricities. He won the "Times" national sports award for the outstanding tennis player of 1950. Larsen was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1969. Julian Knowle
Julian Knowle (born 29 April 1974) is an Austrian former male professional tennis player. Being a born left-hander, Knowle was one of the few on the ATP Tour who played his forehand, backhand, and even volleys double-handed. He was Austria's most successful doubles player in history by reaching world no. 6 in the ATP doubles rankings in January 2008, before being matched by Jürgen Melzer, who reached no. 6 in September 2010, and overtaken by Alexander Peya, who reached no. 3 in August 2013. Magnus Martinelle (born 8 February 1973) is a former tennis player from Sweden. Tennis career Juniors Martinelle was once Sweden's No. 1 junior player, and he was the runner-up at the 1991 Salk Open after losing the final to Alex Rădulescu in two sets. Inés Gorrochategui (born 13 June 1973) is a former professional female tennis player from Argentina. She reached her career-high singles ranking world No. 19 on October 17, 1994. Anna Smashnova ( he, אנה סמשנובה, russian: Анна Смашнова; born July 16, 1976) is a Soviet-born Israeli former tennis player. She retired from professional tour after Wimbledon 2007. Smashnova reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 15 in 2003. She reached 13 finals, and won 12 of them. In addition, she won a junior Grand Slam title, the 1991 French Open girls' singles championship. Early life Smashnova, born in Minsk, is of Russian-Jewish descent.
