1967 VFL Grand Final
The 1967 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Richmond Football Club and Geelong Football Club at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23 September 1967. It was the 70th annual grand final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1967 VFL season. Len Smith (footballer, Born 1912)
Leonard Victor Smith (9 February 1912 – 23 July 1967) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club and Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The older brother of champion full-forward and coach Norm Smith, Len Smith was considered one of the pioneers of modern Australian rules football. Although his actual coaching career was short-lived due to struggles with ill health, his emphasis on speed, constructive handpassing and play-on had particular influence on Ron Barassi and Tom Hafey. Graham Farmer
Graham Vivian "Polly" Farmer (10 March 1935 14 August 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the East Perth Football Club and West Perth Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). Born in Western Australia and of indigenous heritage through his Noongar mother, Farmer is considered one of the greatest footballers in the game's history; when the Australian Football Hall of Fame was established in 1996, Farmer was among the 12 inaugural players given 'legend' status. He is primarily recognised for the way he revolutionised ruckwork and handballing. Fred Wooller
Fred Wooller (born 21 October 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the VFL. Football Recruited from Bacchus Marsh, Wooller started his career as a full forward and topped Geelong's goalkicking with 56 goals in 1957, his tally being the equal second highest in the league for that season. He was rewarded with selection in the interstate carnival where he represented Victoria. He was the Geelong's leading goalkicker again in 1959 as well as in 1960, where he played at centre half forward and won the Carji Greeves Medal for the club's best and fairest. On 6 July 1963 he was a member of the Geelong team that were comprehensively and unexpectedly beaten by Fitzroy, 9.13 (67) to 3.13 (31) in the 1963 Miracle Match. Bob Davis (Australian Rules Footballer)
Robert "Bob" Davis (12 June 1928 – 16 May 2011) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life Bob Davis was born in Clunes and as a teenager he boarded and attended at Ballarat College. A keen South Melbourne supporter he attended a preseason training with the club but was told his services would not be necessary. He returned to Ballarat and played locally with Golden Point. He was spotted by Geelong recruiters and he was invited to try out with Geelong. 1944 VFL Season
The 1944 VFL season was the 48th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. All twelve of the league's clubs competed, with returning after two years in recess due to wartime travel restrictions. The season ran from 6 May until 30 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Fitzroy Football Club for the eighth and final time in its history, after it defeated by 15 points in the VFL Grand Final. Kevin Sheedy (Australian Footballer)
Kevin John Sheedy AO (born 24 December 1947) is a former Australian rules football coach and player in the Australian Football League. He played and coached in a combined total of 929 games over 47 years from 1967 until 2013, which is a VFL/AFL record. Sheedy was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and on 29 May 2018 was elevated to legend status. On the field, Sheedy played for in the Victorian Football League during the 1960s and 1970s, captaining the side in 1978 and winning three premierships. He then coached in the VFL/AFL for nearly three decades from 1981 until 2007, winning four premierships and earning acclaim for his unusual and creative approaches to promoting the club and the game. Graeme Bond (born 27 November 1949) is a former Australian rules football player who played in the VFL for both the Richmond Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club. Family The son of Ray Salmond Bond (1918-2010), and Lily Pauline Bond (1916-2003), née Bedford, Graeme Bond was born at the St Omer Private Hospital, in Prospect Hill Road, Camberwell, Victoria on 27 November 1949. Royce Hart
Royce Desmond Hart (born 10 February 1948) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Regarded as one of the greatest centre half-forwards to ever play Australian rules football, Hart was a supremely gifted and courageous player with superb pack marking skills, with a trademark of leaping in from the side, and a penetrating left-foot kick. Fred Swift
Frederick Norman Swift (6 July 1938 – 28 April 1983) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also played first grade cricket with the Eaglehawk Cricket Club in the Bendigo and District Cricket Association. Swift has a special place in the history of the Richmond Football Club as the captain of the drought-breaking 1967 premiership team. He was murdered during a home invasion at his farm at Lockwood, near Bendigo, Victoria, at the age of 44. Neville Crowe
Neville Crowe (1 June 1937 – 2 September 2016) was an Australian rules footballer who represented in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s and 1960s. He also served as club president from 1987 to 1993, and was at the forefront of the ''Save Our Skins'' campaign in 1990, which saved the club from financial ruin. In the 1967 Second Semi-final, Crowe was reported for allegedly striking ruckman John Nicholls (footballer), John Nicholls, and suspended. He subsequently missed Richmond's drought-breaking premiership victory in the 1967 VFL Grand Final, and announced his retirement shortly afterward.
