1911 Mexican General Election
General elections were held in Mexico on October 1 and 15, 1911. Background The 1910 Mexican general election, 1910 elections were intended to be the first free elections of the Porfiriato, but after opposition leader Francisco I. Madero appeared poised to upset the Porfirian regime, he was arrested and imprisoned before the election was held. Despite Madero's popularity, Diaz was controversially announced as the election winner with almost 99% of the votes. The elections were subsequently rigged and the results not recognized by Madero, who then published the Plan of San Luis Potosí in October 1910 that served to incite the Mexican Revolution. Progressive Constitutionalist Party (Mexico)
The Progressive Constitutionalist Party ( es, Partido Constitucional Progresista), known by its acronym, PCP, was a Liberalism, liberal political party that existed between 1909 and 1913. Positioned in the political centre of Mexican politics, it drew ideologically from social liberalism, as well as economic liberalism. The party was formed as the conservative wing of the former Liberal Party (Mexico), Liberal Party (but not as conservative as the Liberal Party itself under Porfirio Diaz) which in the early twentieth century had splintered into more radical factions, represented by the Mexican Liberal Party, PLM. The Party was originally founded in 1909 as the National Anti-Reelectionist Party (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Partido Nacional Antirreeleccionista'') and was rebranded in 1911 as the PCP.
