The 1999–2000 Segunda Divisão de Honra season was the tenth season of the competition and the 66th season of recognised second-tier football in Portugal. Overview The league was contested by 18 teams with FC Paços de Ferreira winning the championship and gaining promotion to the Primeira Liga along with SC Beira-Mar and CD Aves. At the other end of the table Moreirense FC, AD Esposende and SC Covilhã were relegated to the Segunda Divisão. FC Penafiel
Futebol Clube de Penafiel () is a Portuguese Association football, football club founded on 8 February 1951 and based in the city of Penafiel, Portugal, Penafiel. Brief history Penafiel first reached the Portuguese Liga, first division in Portuguese Liga 1980–81, 1980–81, first lasting two seasons. They also played there from 1983 to 1986, 1987–92 and 2004–06. In 2007–08, the club played in the second level, and eventually were relegated to the Portuguese Second Division, third after finishing second from bottom. 2000–01 Primeira Liga
The 2000–01 Primeira Liga was the 67th edition of the top flight of Portuguese football. It started on 19 August 2000 with a match between Braga and Vitória de Guimarães, and ended on 27 May 2001. The league was contested by 18 clubs, with Sporting CP as the defending champions. Boavista won their first league title, becoming only the second champions from outside the Portuguese "Big Three" (''Os Três Grandes'') of Benfica, Porto and Sporting, after Belenenses in the 1945–46 season. Boavista qualified for the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League group stage along with Porto, who entered the second qualifying round. Sporting and Marítimo qualified for the 2001–02 UEFA Cup. At the bottom of the table, Campomaiorense, Desportivo das Aves and Estrela da Amadora were relegated to the Segunda Liga. Pena finished as the top scorer with 22 goals. Imortal Desportivo Clube ''(abbreviated as Imortal DC and colloquially known as Imortal de Albufeira)'' is a Portuguese sports club centered around a football club based in the city of Albufeira, in the Portuguese region of Algarve. Futebol Clube da Maia was a Portuguese football club based in Maia, Greater Metropolitan Area of Porto. Founded on 4 April 1954, it held its home matches at the Estádio Municipal Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho, which holds 12,000 spectators. It was dissolved in 2011 after several financial problems. History Maia never competed in the top division, but had a nine-year spell in the second level from 1997 to 2006.
