1999–2000 Indiana Pacers Season
The 1999–2000 NBA season was the 24th season for the Indiana Pacers in the National Basketball Association, and their 33rd season as a franchise. It was also the team's first season playing at their new arena, the Conseco Fieldhouse. During the off-season, the Pacers acquired small forward, top draft pick and high school basketball star Jonathan Bender from the Toronto Raptors, and acquired center, and first-round draft pick Jeff Foster out of Texas State University from the Golden State Warriors. The Pacers played around .500 basketball with a 7–7 start to the regular season, but then won 15 of their next 17 games, and held a 32–16 record at the All-Star break. 1999–2000 Golden State Warriors Season
The 1999–2000 NBA season was the 54th season for the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association, and their 38th season in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city of Oakland, California hosted the 2000 NBA All-Star Game this season. During the off-season, the Warriors acquired Mookie Blaylock from the Atlanta Hawks, and acquired point guard, and first-round draft pick Vonteego Cummings out of the University of Pittsburgh from the Indiana Pacers. The Warriors struggled losing 16 of their first 18 games of the regular season, as head coach P. J. Carlesimo was fired after a 6–21 start to the season, and was replaced with General Manager Garry St. Jean, where the team suffered a 12-game losing streak between December and January. Sam Perkins
Samuel Bruce Perkins (born June 14, 1961) is an American former professional basketball player and executive. Perkins was a three-time college All-American, was a member of the 1982 national champion North Carolina Tar Heels, and won a gold medal with the 1984 United States men's Olympic basketball team. Travis Best (born July 12, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player, who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and in Europe. Rik Smits (born 23 August 1966), nicknamed "the Dunking Dutchman" is a Dutch former professional basketball player who spent his entire career with the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The NBA's Most Improved Player (MIP) is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given to the player who has shown the most progress during the regular season compared to previous seasons. The winner is selected by a panel of sportswriters throughout the United States and Canada, each of whom casts a vote for first, second and third place selections.
