The 1999–2000 Gamma Ethniki was the 17th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Akratitos was crowned champion, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki. Nafpaktiakos Asteras also won promotion as a runner-up of the league. Thesprotos, Agersani Naxos, Niki Volos, Neapolis Thessaloniki, Poseidon Michaniona, Ethnikos Katerini, Keratsini, Karditsa, Edessaikos and Doxa Vyronas were relegated to Delta Ethniki. The Gamma Ethniki (, C National Division) is the Greek football league system, third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. From season 2013–14, the football League 2 was merged with the Delta Ethniki, fourth division championship (Delta Ethniki) and renamed Gamma Ethniki once more. The new third division is held in six groups, with the clubs divided on the basis of geographical criteria, while it returns in an amateur form. Delta Ethniki
Delta Ethniki () was the fourth level of Greek football championship. During the period of its existence, it was the lowest national division of the Greek championship. It was founded in the 1982–83 season and abolished in the 2012–13 season, as it was merged with the third division (Football League 2). Its history therefore spans 31 years. Many historical clubs of first division (Super League) have played in Delta Ethniki, such as Iraklis (2011–12 season), Ethnikos Piraeus, Apollon Smyrnis and Atromitos. The clubs of Delta Ethniki were divided in groups on the basis of geographical criteria. The groups usually comprised 10 teams, though this number varied between 4 and 12 over the years. Ermal Tahiri
Ermal Tahiri (born 27 April 1969) is an Albanian retired footballer who played as a midfielder for a number of clubs in Albania and Greece as well as for the Albania national team. Club career Tahiri began his career in Albania, playing several seasons with Dinamo Tirana and winning the 1989–90 Albanian championship. Tahiri moved to Greece to play in the Greek second division with PAS Giannina on a six-month contract in December 1995. He would move to Ialysos and Panegialios before returning to PAS Giannina for six months in December 1997. International career He made his debut for Albania in a September 1990 friendly match against Greece and earned a total of 4 caps, scoring no goals. His final international was another friendly against Greece, in September 1991. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season.
