1999 Supertaça Cândido De Oliveira
The 1999 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 21st edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, the annual Portuguese football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top league and cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The 1999 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was contested over two legs, and opposed Porto of the Primeira Liga and Beira-Mar of the Liga de Honra. Porto qualified for the SuperCup by winning the 1998–99 Primeira Divisão, whilst Beira-Mar qualified for their first Supertaça by winning the 1998–99 Taça de Portugal. The first leg was televised on RTP, whilst the second leg was televised on TVI. The Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (; English: Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, or simply Portuguese Super Cup) is an annual Portuguese association football, football match played since 1979 between the winners of the top-tier league (Primeira Liga) and cup (Taça de Portugal) competitions. João Carlos Proença Filipe (born 15 December 1972), known as Fusco, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Lisbon, Fusco spent his entire professional career with S.C. Beira-Mar, amassing Primeira Liga totals of 54 games and one goal for the club over five seasons. He made his debut in the competition on 21 August 1998, starting and being sent off in a 2–1 away loss against S.C. Braga. On 19 June 1999, Fusco played the full 90 minutes of the final of the Taça de Portugal, helping the Aveiro side to their first and only major title after the 1–0 defeat of S.C. Campomaiorense. Fernando João Lobo Aguiar (born 18 March 1972) is a Canadian former professional soccer player who played as a defensive midfielder. He amassed Primeira Liga totals of 138 matches and 13 goals over six seasons, appearing in the competition for Marítimo, Beira-Mar, Benfica, União de Leiria and Penafiel. Jérôme Palatsi (born 10 December 1969) is a French former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Having had no impact as a professional in his country of birth, he spent the bulk of his senior career in Portugal, appearing in 180 Primeira Liga matches mainly at the service of Vitória de Guimarães and retiring in his 40s.
