1998–99 Toto Cup Leumit
The 1998–99 Toto Cup Leumit was the 15th season of the third most important Association football, football tournament in Israel since its introduction. It was held in two stages. First, sixteen 1998–99 Liga Leumit, Liga Leumit teams were divided into four groups. The group winners advanced to the semi-finals, which, as were the final held as one-legged matches. The competition began on 15 August 1998 and ended on 2 February 1999, with Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C., Maccabi Tel Aviv beating Beitar Jerusalem F.C., Beitar Jerusalem 2–1 in the final. The Israel Toto Cup (, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League Ligat ha'Al, Ligat Ha'Al; and the Israeli 2nd division Liga Leumit. Both of these leagues are featured separately for the Israel Toto Cup – at a distinct seasonal tournament for each of these two. They are simply referred to as ''Toto Cup Al'' and ''Toto Cup Leumit'', in many global media outlets. From 1999 to 2009, the tournament was also open to clubs from the Liga Artzit, third division, until the cancellation of Liga Artzit. Hapoel (, ) is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. Ramat Gan (, ) is a city in the Tel Aviv District of Israel, located east of the municipality of Tel Aviv, and is part of the Gush Dan, Gush Dan metropolitan area. Đovani Roso (; born 17 November 1972) is a Croatian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Aside from native Croatia, Roso notably played for a number of renowned Israeli clubs, where he became noted for his technique and free kicks.
