1998–99 SS Lazio Season
The 1998–99 season was Società Sportiva Lazio's 99th season since the club's existence and their 11th consecutive season in the top-flight of Italian football. In this season, Lazio finished second in Serie A, and won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and Supercoppa Italiana. Season review Lazio kicked off the 1998–99 season by defeating Juventus 2–1 to win the Supercoppa in the pre-season, and then set a searing pace in the league thanks to the lethal striking partnership of world transfer record signing Christian Vieri and Marcelo Salas. The pair of them together netted 27 goals, as Lazio led the way for most of the season. Twenty-year-old Yugoslav starlet Dejan Stanković also impressed by scoring on his league debut. Dejan Stanković
Dejan Stanković ( sr-Cyrl, Дејан Станковић, , born 11 September 1978) is a Serbian professional football manager and former player. He captained the Serbia national team from 2007 until 2011, when he announced his retirement from international football. He is the manager of Russian team Spartak Moscow. Stanković began his career at Red Star Belgrade before joining Lazio in 1998. He spent more than five years with the latter club before joining Inter Milan, where he remained until his retirement in 2013. Paolo Negro
Paolo Negro (; born 16 April 1972) is an Italian former professional footballer and manager who played as a centre back or as a right back. In an eighteen year professional career, Negro amassed Serie A totals of 362 games and 24 goals, mainly for Lazio, winning eight major titles with the club, including one national championship and the 1999 Cup Winners' Cup. Luca Marchegiani
Luca Marchegiani (; born 22 February 1966) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He represented several Italian clubs throughout his career, in particular Torino and Lazio, where he won various titles. At international level, he played for the Italy national team in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the final. Siniša Mihajlović
Siniša Mihajlović ( sr-Cyrl, Синиша Михајловић, ; 20 February 1969 – 16 December 2022) was a Serbian football manager and professional footballer who played as a defender. Mihajlović had an illustrious playing career, winning the European Cup with Red Star Belgrade in 1991 before moving to Italy, making 353 appearances for Serie A sides Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan and winning league titles with the latter two clubs. Alessandro Nesta (; born 19 March 1976) is an Italian professional football coach and former player who is the current head coach of Serie A club Monza. Pavel Nedvěd (; born 30 August 1972) is a Czech former professional Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder.
