1998–99 Milwaukee Bucks Season
The 1998–99 NBA season was the 31st season for the Milwaukee Bucks in the National Basketball Association. Due to a lockout, the regular season began on February 5, 1999, and was cut from 82 games to 50. The Bucks received the ninth overall pick in the 1998 NBA draft, and selected power forward, and German basketball star Dirk Nowitzki, but soon traded him to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for power forward, and top draft pick Robert Traylor from the University of Michigan. The team also hired head coach George Karl, who previously coached the Seattle SuperSonics, and signed free agents, three-point specialist Dell Curry, and Vinny Del Negro. George Karl
George Matthew Karl (born May 12, 1951) is an American former professional basketball coach and player. After spending five years as a player for the San Antonio Spurs, he became an assistant with the team before being appointed as a head coach in 1980 with the Montana Golden Nuggets of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Three years later, Karl became one of the youngest National Basketball Association (NBA) head coaches in history when he was named coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers at age 33. By the time his coaching career came to an end in 2016, Karl coached nine different teams in three different leagues (CBA, NBA, Liga ACB), which included being named Coach of the Year three combined times (twice in the CBA and once in the NBA) with one championship roster in the FIBA Saporta Cup. Timothy Mark Thomas (born February 26, 1977) is an American basketball coach and former professional player. He was a highly ranked prospect while playing at Paterson Catholic High School in his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey. Tyrone Hill (born March 19, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player and former assistant coach for the National Basketball Association's Atlanta Hawks. Hill spent four years playing collegiately at Xavier University, in his last season averaging 20.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 58.1% from the field. The Golden State Warriors selected him with the eleventh pick of the 1990 NBA draft. After three years in Golden State, Hill was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the summer of 1993. On November 25, 1994, Hill scored 25 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and recorded seven assists while leading the Cavaliers to a 96–94 win over the Washington Bullets. Elliot Lamonte Perry (born March 28, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player. The point guard from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis), was selected with the tenth pick of the second round (37th overall) by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 1991 NBA draft. He played ten games in 1991-92 for the Clippers before being waived and subsequently signed for the rest of the season by the Charlotte Hornets. The 1998–99 New Jersey Nets season was the Nets' 32nd season in the National Basketball Association, and 23rd season in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Chris Gatling
Chris Raymond Gatling (born September 3, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. Gatling played for many National Basketball Association (NBA) teams from 1991 to 2002. He played for the US national team in the 1990 FIBA World Championship, winning the bronze medal. College career Gatling played three years at Old Dominion University after transferring there from the University of Pittsburgh. He is ODU's sixth all-time scorer with 1,811 points. He also hauled down 859 career rebounds which rank him ninth all-time. Samuel James Cassell Sr. (born November 18, 1969) is an American professional basketball coach and former point guard who serves as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Drafted 24th overall in the 1993 NBA draft out of Florida State Seminoles men's basketball, Florida State, Cassell played for eight different teams during his 15-year career. Thomas Terrell Brandon (born May 20, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for three teams during his 11-year career in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
