PAOK FC
PAOK FC (, ), short for "Pan-Thessalonian Sports club, Athletic Club of Constantinople, Constantinopolitans" (), and commonly known as PAOK Thessaloniki, PAOK Salonika or simply PAOK, is a Greek professional Association football, football club based in Thessaloniki, Macedonia (Greece), Macedonia, Greece. PAOK are one of the top domestic clubs, the most widely supported in Northern Greece. Established on 20 April 1926 by Greek refugees who fled to Thessaloniki from Istanbul, Constantinople in the wake of the Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922), they play their home games at Toumba Stadium, a 29,000 seating capacity football ground. Their name, along with the club's emblem, the Roman Empire, Byzantine-style double-headed eagle with retracted wings, honours the memory of the people and places (mostly from the city of Constantinople) that once belonged to the Eastern Roman Empire. Panagiotis Katsouris
Panagiotis Katsouris (, 28 October 1976 – 9 February 1998) was a Greek football player. He played for Naoussa F.C. and PAOK FC until his sudden death in a car accident outside Thessaloniki. He was 21 years old. Career Katsouris began his professional career in Naoussa where he transferred from Academy Platonas Athens at age 17, making his debut in the First Division in 1993, with Naoussa being relegated that season. After two seasons in the Second Division he transferred to PAOK in the summer of 1996, along with major players such as Theodoros Zagorakis, Paris Zouboulis, Alexis Alexiou, Giorgos Toursounidis and Zisis Vryzas. Katsouris made his debut that season in a match against OFI in the Greek League and scored his first goal in a 1–0 victory over Athinaikos. By the end of his first season he had played in 21 league games, scoring 1 goal. Pantelis Kafes
Pantelis Kafes (; born 24 June 1978) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Due to his follow to the example of Osvaldo Ardiles, he was known for being one of very few outfield players to have worn the number 1 jersey and has won acclaim for his creative abilities and passing skills. Club career Pontioi Veria He started playing professional football in January 1995 at the age of 17 for Pontioi Veria. The club were relegated to the third division that summer and the following May were demoted again. The one shining light was Kafes, who joined PAOK in January 1997. Joe Thunder Armstrong Nagbe (born 2 September 1968) is a Liberian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Giorgos Toursounidis
Georgios Toursounidis (Greek: Γεώργιος Τουρσουνίδης; born 21 August 1970) is a retired Greek footballer. He played for PAOK and Xanthi. Toursounidis was born in 1970. He made 263 league appearances for PAOK, scoring 35 goals, and became a fan favorite due to his work ethic and obsession with the club. His most memorable game for PAOK was an away game against bitter rivals Aris Thessaloniki, with PAOK winning by a score of 4–0, when Toursounidis scored twice. He left PAOK in 1999, spending two seasons at Skoda Xanthi. In January 2002 Toursounidis signed a six-month contract with PAOK and retired after the end of the season. Theodoros Zagorakis
Theodoros Zagorakis ( ; born 27 October 1971) is a Greek politician and former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was the captain of the Greece team that won UEFA Euro 2004, and was also captain and later president of PAOK. He was named the Greek Male Athlete of the Year in 2004. He was elected as a Greek MEP at the May 2014 and May 2019 European Parliament Elections. He was also the president of the Hellenic Football Federation from March to September 2021. Joe Palatsides
Joe Palatsides (born 7 July 1965) is a Greek Australian soccer manager and former player, who last served as the head coach of the Melbourne Victory FC Youth. Playing career A defender, Palatsides began his senior football career with Brunswick Juventus where he quickly became a first team regular, his best season coming in their relegation year where he played in every home-and-away game, scoring 11 goals. He signed with Footscray JUST in 1989, but they would also be relegated, and he eventually made the move to South Melbourne when the National Soccer League moved to the summer format.
