1997 Trophée Lalique
The 1997 Trophée Lalique was the fourth event of six in the 1997–98 ISU Champions Series, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris on 13–16 November. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in single skating, men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Short Program (figure Skating)
The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior Single skating, singles and Pair skating, pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Vocal music with lyrics is allowed for all disciplines since the 2014–2015 season. The short program for single skaters and for pair skaters consists of seven required elements, and there are six required elements for synchronized skaters. Tara Lipinski
Tara Kristen Lipinski (born June 10, 1982) is an American former competitive figure skater, actress, sports commentator, and documentary film producer. A former competitor in women's singles, she is the 1998 Olympic champion, the 1997 World champion, a two-time Champions Series Final champion (1997–1998) and the 1997 U.S. national champion. Until 2019, she was the youngest single skater to win a U.S. Nationals and the youngest to become an Olympic and World champion in figure skating history. She is the first woman to complete a triple loop-triple loop combination, her signature jump element, in competition. Starting in 1997, Lipinski had a rivalry with fellow skater Michelle Kwan, which was played up by the American press, and culminated when Lipinski won the gold medal at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano. Frédéric Dambier
Frédéric Dambier (born 26 December 1977) is a French figure skater. He is a four-time French national silver medalist and competed at two Olympic Games. He twice placed fourth at the European Figure Skating Championships. He is the first French skater to land a quadruple salchow in competition. Career Dambier started skating when he was about six or seven years old when a neighbor took him to the small ice rink of Joué les Tours. In practice, he landed his first triple jump, the salchow, at 14, and his first quad salchow when he was 19. He became the first French skater to perform the quad salchow in competition when he landed it at the 1999 Ondrej Nepela Memorial. Dambier was coached by Annick Gailhaguet, Pierre Trente, Diana Skotnicka and Li Ping, and his choreographers included Olga Leonovich, Shanti Rushpaul and Alexander Zhulin from 2003 to 2006. Jeffrey Langdon (born August 13, 1975) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He is a two-time Canadian national medallist and represented Canada at the 1998 Winter Olympics, where he placed 12th. His highest placement at the World Championships was 8th, in 1998. Todd James Eldredge (born August 28, 1971) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1996 World champion, a six-time U.S. national champion (1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2002), a three-time Olympian (1992, 1998, 2002), and a six-time World medalist. Career Eldredge began skating when he was five years old and moved from Chatham, Massachusetts, to Philadelphia at age ten to train with Richard Callaghan. He later trained at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and at the Onyx in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He won silver at the 1987 World Junior Championships and then gold in 1988.
