The 1996–97 Nationale 1A season was the 76th season of the Ligue Magnus, Nationale 1A, the top level of ice hockey in France. Eight teams participated in the league, and Albatros de Brest won their second league title. Club des Sports de Megève, Gap Hockey Club, and Image Club d'Epinal were relegated to the Nationale 1B. Ligue Magnus
The Ligue Magnus, currently known as Synerglace Ligue Magnus for sponsorship reasons, is the top men's division of the French ice hockey pyramid, established in 1906. The league operated under a variety of names before taking that of its championship trophy, the Magnus Cup, in 2004. The trophy was in turn named for Frenchman and IIHF founder Louis Magnus. Teams from the Ligue Magnus can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Going into the 2022–23 CHL season, the Ligue Magnus was ranked the No. 9 league in Europe, allowing them to send their top team to compete in the CHL. Format 12 teams play a 44-game regular season. Ducs D'Angers
The Association des Sports de Glisse d'Angers is a French professional ice hockey team based in Angers playing in the Ligue Magnus. The team currently use the name of "Les Ducs d'Angers". The team's mascot is an eagle-owl, or grand duc (literally ''great duke'') in French, but its name is primarily intended as a reference to the prestigious Counts and dukes of Anjou, Dukes of Anjou lineage. The team was founded in 1982 and plays home games at the Angers IceParc. The Team has never been French champion, but won the Ice hockey French cup, French cup in 2007 and 2014. ''Flammes'' is a 2002 compilation album by the French pop act Niagara, released nine years after the band broke up. It contains all the band's hit singles from its studio albums and was released in three formats: the classic edition with a single CD, a limited edition double CD with the second disc featuring the extended versions, and a deluxe box set including two CDs, a DVD of the group's music videos (except for "Tchiki Boum"), and a booklet with song lyrics and an overview of the band's history. Lyon Hockey Club Les Lions (LHC The Lions) was the ice hockey team of Lyon, France. The team currently competes in The French Ligue Magnus on 13 January 2014 it was announced they will have a partnership with the Tampa Bay Lighting and Syracuse Crunch. In 2019, the professional team was dissolved after bankruptcy. The Dragons de Rouen (Rouen Dragons), are a French professional ice hockey team based in Rouen playing in the Ligue Magnus. The team was founded in 1982 and plays home games at the Île Lacroix. History Only 3 years after its founding, the club, then named RHC (Rouen Hockey Club), reached the French elite championship in 1985. It has remained at this level since, being the club with the second-most consecutive years at this level, behind Amiens. Rouen won its first French league title in 1990, starting a run of 7 consecutive finals with 5 league titles, winning the title in 1990 and 1992 through 1995, while finishing runner-up in 1991 and 1996.
