1996–97 In Armenian Football
1996-97 in Armenian football was the 5th season of independent football after the split-up from the Soviet Union. It was the second out of two seasons in Armenia that were different from the others. Including the 1995-96 season these were the only winter competitions, while all other Armenian seasons were summer competitions. The Armenian Premier League for 1996-97 existed of 12 teams of which the four lowest ranked team would relegate to the Armenian First League. Only two Armenian First League teams would be promoted for the 1997 fall season, switching back to the winter competitions. Premier League * FC Arabkir and BKMA Yerevan are promoted. Flag Of Armenia
The national flag of Armenia (), also known as the Tricolour (), consists of three horizontal bands of equal width, red on the top, blue in the middle, and orange on the bottom. The Armenian Supreme Soviet adopted the current flag on 24 August 1990. On 15 June 2006, the Law on the National Flag of Armenia, governing its usage, was passed by the Azgayin Zhoghov, National Assembly of Armenia. FC Yerevan
FC Yerevan () was an Armenian professional association football, football club from the capital Yerevan. History FC Yerevan played in the Armenian Premier League and won the Armenian Premier League 1997, 1997 title. It was founded in 1995 and lasted for five years. It played its home matches at the Hrazdan Stadium. After the Armenian Premier League 1999, 1999 season, the club was dissolved and the players moved on to other clubs in Yerevan. On July 13, 2018, Football Federation of Armenia announced that the FC Yerevan is returning to professional football and will be taking part in the 2018-19 Armenian First League. FC Dinamo Yerevan
FC Dinamo Yerevan (), was an Armenian football club from the capital Yerevan. History The club was founded in 1936 during the Soviet period, winning many titles of the Armenian SSR championship. After a long retirement from professional football, Dinamo Yerevan was revived in 1992 to participate in the domestic competitions. FC Bentonit Ijevan
FC Bentonit (), is Armenian football club based in the town of Vanadzor, Lori Province. History The club was founded in 1977 FC Bentonit Ijevan. In 1992, it was renamed Kaen Ijevan, and later in 1993 it was known as BMA Ijevan. After a brief retirement between 1994 and 1995 the club participated in the 1996–97 Armenian First League competition as FC Kaen Ijevan. FC Lernagorts Kapan (), is a defunct Armenian football club from Kapan, Syunik Province. History Lernagorts Kapan was founded in 1963 during the Soviet period. After the independence of Armenia, the club participated in the first Armenian football competition after the split-up from the Soviet Union under the name Syunik Kapan.
