1996–97 Arsenal F.C. Season
The 1996–97 season was Arsenal Football Club's fifth season in the FA Premier League and their 71st consecutive season in the top flight of English football. The club dismissed manager Bruce Rioch in the close season, who spent a year in-charge. After much speculation, Frenchman Arsène Wenger was appointed as his replacement – the club's first manager born outside of the British Isles. At the end of the campaign, Arsenal finished third in the Premier League and missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification. They made exits in the fourth round of both the FA Cup and Football League Cup to Leeds United and Liverpool respectively. In Europe, the club were eliminated in the UEFA Cup first round to Borussia Mönchengladbach of Germany. Stewart Houston
Stewart Mackie Houston (born 20 August 1949) is a Scottish former association football, football player and coach (sports), coach who played as a Defender (association football)#Full-back, left-back. Born in Dunoon, he began his professional career in 1967 with Chelsea F.C., Chelsea, before moving to Brentford F.C., Brentford and then Manchester United F.C., Manchester United, where he spent seven years. He also made one appearance for the Scotland national football team, Scotland national team in 1975. He was George Graham's assistant at Arsenal F.C., Arsenal and caretaker manager after the sackings of Graham and his replacement Bruce Rioch, and later manager of Queens Park Rangers F.C., Queens Park Rangers. Paul Dickov
Paul Dickov (born 1 November 1972) is a Scottish former professional football manager and player who works as a television pundit for Manchester City TV. Dickov played as a forward from 1990 to 2011, starting his career with Arsenal. He won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1994 with Arsenal, but struggled to hold a place in the first team and spent time on loan with Luton Town and Brighton & Hove Albion before moving to Manchester City in 1996. Over six seasons at the club, Dickov experienced two promotions and two relegations, playing in three different divisions. David Hillier
David Hillier (born 19 December 1969) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder from 1988 until 2003, notably in the Premier League for Arsenal. He played in the Football League for Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers and Barnet. He also earned one cap for the England U21 side.
