1995–96 FIBA European League
The 1995–96 FIBA European League, also shortened to 1995–96 FIBA EuroLeague, was the 39th installment of the European top-tier level professional club competition for basketball clubs (now called EuroLeague). It began on September 7, 1995, and ended on April 11, 1996. Panathinaikos B.C. became the first Greek team to lift the FIBA European League championship after beating FC Barcelona Banca Catalana by one point in the final match of the competition's Final Four, which was held at Paris. The 1995–96 season saw the return of 1991-92 European League champion Partizan on the international scene, after three years ban of Yugoslav clubs due to UN embargo. However, Partizan was eliminated in the qualifying rounds. Euroleague
The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe. The league consists of 20 teams, of which 16 are given long-term licences and wild cards, making the league a semi-closed league. The league was first organized by FIBA in 1958, subsequently by ULEB in 2000 and then solely by Euroleague Basketball. The competition was introduced in 1958 as the FIBA European Champions Cup (renamed the FIBA EuroLeague in 1996), which operated under FIBA's umbrella until Euroleague Basketball was created for the 2000–01 season. The FIBA European Champions Cup and the EuroLeague are considered to be the same competition, with the change of name being simply a re-branding. 1994–95 ACB Season
The 1994–95 ACB season was the 12th season of the top Spanish professional basketball league, since its establishment in 1983. It started on 8 September 1994 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 21 May 1995 with the finals. FC Barcelona Banca Catalana won their fifth ACB title, and their eighth Spanish title by defeating Unicaja at the fifth leg of the finals in one of the most epic moments in the history of the league. At the fourth leg of the finals, which was very even, with two points of advantage for FC Barcelona and possession for Unicaja, Michael Ansley shot a three-pointer with seven seconds left that could have given to Unicaja its first league title, but unfortunately missed the three-pointer and sent the series to the fifth leg. Pallacanestro Treviso, named Benetton Basket due to a long running sponsorship by the Benetton Group and widely referred to as Benetton Treviso, is an Italian youth basketball club based in Treviso, Veneto. The club was previously a successful professional club until 2012 when the Benetton Group decided to withdraw from professional basketball, though they retained the youth section at La Ghirada, the sports complex they own. The LNB Élite, currently known for sponsorship reasons as Betclic Élite, is a professional basketball league in France and is the highest level of the French basketball system. The competition has existed since 1921. Since 1987, the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB) has governed the league. Formerly known as the LNB Pro A, each season consists of 16 teams. The bottom two placed teams from each season are relegated to the second tier level Pro B. The winner of the play-offs of the league are crowned the French national champions.
