National Professional Soccer League (1984–2001)
The National Professional Soccer League was a professional indoor soccer league in the U.S. and Canada. It was originally called the American Indoor Soccer Association. History In November 1983, a Kalamazoo, Michigan–based group called Soccer Leagues Unlimited unveiled a plan for an indoor league composed exclusively of American players. The group's president, Bob Lemieux (later AISA commissioner), announced that Kalamazoo, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Springfield, Illinois, were on board in what was he said was intended to be a sort of farm system, or developmental league, for the well established Major Indoor Soccer League. He added that groups in Indianapolis, Peoria, and Michigan cities, Saginaw and Flint; Kentucky cities, Lexington and Louisville; Ohio cities, Columbus Toledo and Dayton; Erie, PA; and Green Bay, Wisconsin, were all interested in joining the league. Victor Nogueira
Victor Nogueira (born July 17, 1959) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper. Nogueira spent six seasons in the North American Soccer League, but gained his greatest recognition in over twenty seasons in three indoor leagues, the Major Indoor Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League and the second Major Indoor Soccer League. He was also a member of the U.S. futsal team which took second place at the 1992 FIFA Futsal World Championship, and he is the father of FC Kansas City and United States forward Casey Loyd. Jamie Swanner
James Swanner (born January 13, 1961, in St. Louis, Missouri) is a retired U.S. soccer goalkeeper and current soccer coach. He was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic soccer team and earned one cap with the U.S. national team in 1984. He spent his entire professional career playing indoor soccer. Playing career High school and college Swanner attended Southwest High School in St. Louis. After graduating from high school, Swanner attended Clemson University, where he played as a goalkeeper on the men's soccer team. Hendrig "Henry" Gutierrez (born August 28, 1968, in Hoboken, New Jersey and raised in Miami) is an American former soccer player who began his career in the lower French divisions before finishing it in the United States. Sean Patrick Bowers (born August 12, 1968) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a defender. He is the current general manager for the San Diego Sockers of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). Bowers spent most of his career playing indoor soccer, earning the 1992 National Professional Soccer League Rookie of the Year, four-time Defender of the Year and a six-time first team All Star in four different indoor leagues. He also played four seasons with the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS). Wes Wade
Wes Wade (born February 18, 1968) is a retired U.S. soccer player who spent two seasons playing outdoor soccer and fifteen playing indoor soccer. He was a six-time All Star and won five championships with two teams. Player Wade attended Maryville High School (Ohio), Maryville High School in Ohio, graduating in 1986. In 1989, he signed with the Arizona Condors of the Western Soccer League. While the Condors finished well out of playoff contention, Wade tied for second in goal scoring and finished fourth in the league in total points. In the fall of 1989, Wade began his long indoor career with the San Diego Sockers (1978–1996), San Diego Sockers of the Major Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
