Úrvalsdeild
The Besta deild karla () is a professional association football league in Iceland and the highest level of the Icelandic football league system. The competition was founded in 1912 as the Icelandic Championship. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (April to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSÍ) and has 12 teams. By the end of the 2022–23 season, UEFA ranked the league No. 48 in Europe. From 27 April 2009 to 2022, the league had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. From the 2019 season to the end of the 2021 season, the league was popularly referred to as Pepsi Max deildin (The Pepsi Max League). 1995–96 UEFA Cup
The 1995–96 UEFA Cup was the 25th season of Europe's then-tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. It was won by German club Bayern Munich on aggregate over Bordeaux of France. Girondins de Bordeaux went to the final all the way from the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup, its first season, being the only Intertoto Cup entrant to reach this far of the UEFA Cup. With this victory, Bayern became the third club to have won all three major European trophies at the time ( European Cup/UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League, and the Cup Winners' Cup). The finals itself was the only UEFA Cup final during the 1990s to not feature any Italian sides. The 1995–96 season also saw the return of Yugoslav clubs on the international scene after three years of ban due to UN embargo. Eiður Guðjohnsen
Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen (transliterated as Eidur Smari Gudjohnsen; born 15 September 1978) is an Icelandic professional football coach and former player who played as a forward. Eiður saw his greatest success in England and Spain with Chelsea and Barcelona respectively, where he won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga with the latter and the League Cup and Premiership twice with the former. Along with two spells at Bolton Wanderers fourteen years apart, he also played in Iceland, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Belgium, China, Norway and India in a club career lasting 23 years. He is regarded by many to be the greatest Icelandic footballer of all time. Eiður is the son of Arnór Guðjohnsen, who was also an Icelandic international footballer. Helgi Sigurðsson
Helgi Sigurðsson (born 17 September 1974) is an Icelandic former professional footballer and manager of ÍBV. A forward, he played for clubs in Iceland, Germany, Norway, Greece, and Denmark and represented Iceland at international level. Club career Helgi was born in Reykjavík, Iceland. He started his career at Víkingur Reykjavik and won the Icelandic championship with them in 1991. He then moved to Knattspyrnufélagið Fram before signing for VfB Stuttgart in Germany. Joined Stabæk in 1997 and won the Norwegian Football Cup final with them in 1998, scoring two of three of Stabæk's goals. In 1999, he moved to Panathinaikos in Greece, nicknamed ''the Shark''. He played one game in the Champions League for Panathinaikos, coming on as a sub for Nikolaos Lymperopoulos against Valencia. He signed for Danish club AGF in February 2004.
