1993–94 UC Sampdoria Season
Unione Calcio Sampdoria bounced back from a disappointing season the year before, and scored the most goals of all teams on its way to third in Serie A. It also won Coppa Italia following a furious second-half offensive against Ancona, winning both the match and on aggregate with a commanding 6–1. The most influential players were experienced duo Ruud Gullit and Roberto Mancini combined with playmakers David Platt and Attilio Lombardo, with Sampdoria's strength lying in the offensive department. Nevertheless, the entire team was filled with internationally recognised players, even though the defence was nowhere close to the efficiency of league champions A.C. Milan. Unione Calcio Sampdoria, commonly referred to as Sampdoria (), is an Italian professional Football club (association football), football club based in Genoa, Liguria. Srečko Katanec
Srečko Katanec (; born 16 July 1963) is a Slovenian retired football manager and player. At international level, he was capped for both the Yugoslavia and Slovenia national teams. A former midfielder, who was also capable of playing as a defender, Katanec is regarded as one of the greatest Slovenian footballers of all time, having represented Yugoslavia at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics, UEFA Euro 1984 and the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Vladimir Jugović ( sr-Cyrl, Владимир Југовић, ; born 30 August 1969) is a Serbian former professional footballer. A versatile player, he was usually employed as a left or attacking midfielder, but could play anywhere in midfield. Michele Serena (; born 10 March 1970) is an Italian football manager, and former football defender, most recently in charge as manager of Serie C club Legnago. Marco Rossi (born 9 September 1964) is an Italian and Hungarian football manager and former professional footballer who is the current manager of Hungary's national team. His greatest achievement as a player was winning the Italian Cup with Sampdoria. Moreno Mannini (; born 15 August 1962) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Club career Born in Imola, Province of Bologna, Mannini started playing professionally with Como in Serie B, appearing in 36 games in his second season as the Lombardy team promoted to Serie A.
