Maltese Premier League
The Maltese Premier League, known as 360Sports Malta Premier for sponsorship reasons with 360Sports (colloquialism, colloquially known as ''Il-Kampjonat Premjer''), is the highest level of professional football in Malta. Managed by the Malta Football Association, the Premier League is contested by 12 teams and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the Maltese Challenge League, Challenge League. As of June 2022, the Premier League ranks 46th out of 55 members in the UEFA coefficient. The league was first contested in 1909 as the First Division, before switching to its current name in 1980; the First Division in turn replaced the Maltese Second Division, Second Division. Hamrun ( ) is a town in the Southern Region of Malta, with a population of 9,244 as of March 2014. The people The townspeople are traditionally known as ''Tas-Sikkina'' (literally meaning 'of the knife' or 'those who carry a knife') or as ''Ta' Werwer'' (which literally means 'those who scare' or more colloquially, 'the scary ones'). This appellation could stem from the fact that a considerable number of used to work as stevedores on the docks and thus carried a knife at all times. Another theory was that the community of Sicilians who settled here illegally in the 16th century danced a traditional dance which involved the wielding of small stilettos which they carried in their socks, waving them in the air and back to their sheaths. Paul Zammit (born 21 September 1969) is a Maltese manager (association football), manager and a former footballer, current manager of Sliema Wanderers F.C., Sliema Wanderers. Vesko Petrović
Vesko Petrović (born 28 December 1965) is a Montenegrin football manager, most recently in charge of Maltese outfit St. Andrews. He spent a large part of his playing career in Malta, where he played as a striker for several clubs. He played both games for Valletta in the 1996–97 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup but never in the league for them. Managerial career Petrović led Maltese third-tier side Mġarr United to promotion in 2012. Petrović was appointed manager of Marsaskala in summer 2014 and of Rabat Ajax in summer 2018. Jason Thomas Kabia (born 26 May 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kabia played non-league football with Oakham United, before spending two seasons in the Football League with Lincoln City, making a total of 28 league appearances. George Randolph Lawrence (born 14 September 1962) is a former professional footballer now retired. He played as a midfielder, spending most of his career with Oxford United, Southampton and AFC Bournemouth. He was known by the nickname "Chicken George" throughout his career. Gilbert Agius
Gilbert Agius (born 21 February 1974) is a Maltese professional football manager and former footballer who played as a forward. He has a UEFA Pro coaching license. Playing career Agius was the captain of his hometown club side Valletta and is one of the most well known and highly respected figures in Maltese football history. He is hailed as a hero by the Valletta fans, due to his loyalty to his hometown club, where he played since 1990, bar a short spell during the first half of the 2001–02 season which he spent on loan to the Lega Pro Prima Divisione club Pisa. Stefan Sultana (born 18 July 1968 in Ħamrun, Malta) is a retired professional footballer, who played the majority of his career for Ħamrun Spartans as a striker. Żurrieq F
Żurrieq ( ) is a town in the Western Region of Malta. It is one of the oldest towns in the country, and has a population of 11,823 inhabitants as of March 2014. Żurrieq is one of the 10 parishes to be documented in 1436 and is dedicated to Saint Catherine. The island of Filfla is administratively a part of the town. The town stretches from Nigret to Ħal Far. Sliema ( ) is a town located on the northeast coast of Malta in the Northern Harbour District. It is a major residential and commercial area and a centre for shopping, bars, dining, and café life. It is also the most densely populated town on the island.
