1993 Shell Helix Oilers Season
The 1993 Shell Helix Oilers season was the 9th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Known as Shell Rimula X in the All-Filipino Cup. Draft picks Occurrences Before the start of the season, Shell's main man Benjie Paras wanted out of his contract and signified his intentions to join his team's arch rival Ginebra San Miguel. The Shell management declined Ginebra's offer of two trade options. As it turn out, Paras skip the whole All-Filipino Cup tournament and the team suffered without their top center. The Turbo Chargers finish last by winning only two out of their 10 games in the eliminations. After holding out for six months, Benjie Paras finally decided to signed up with Shell and played his first game in the second conference. Rino Salazar
Quirino "Rino" Salazar (born March 30, 1952) is a former Filipino basketball player and coach. Career Playing A Letranista, Salazar played for Letran in college. He later played in PBA teams such as Tanduay and Toyota. In Toyota, he played with his future colleague Robert Jaworski. Coaching After moving out of the court, Salazar entered the sidelines as assistant coach of Toyota, and won the 1982 Reinforced Filipino Conference finals. He later quit to focus on a small business. But in 1985, after Jaworski' appointment as coach of La Tondeña's Ginebra San Miguel, Jaworski was offered him to be an assistant coach. They won two championships. Onchie Dela Cruz
Ramon "Onchie" Dela Cruz (born November 27) is a retired Filipino professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He also took acting, acting roles in various Philippine Movie Award-giving Bodies, Filipino movies and jobs in the United States, and is now into vlogging mostly in Mega Manila streets, catering to former players and related topics. Career After some amateur stints, Dela Cruz began his 10-year professional career as the 2nd overall pick of the Tanduay Rhum Makers in the 1985 PBA Draft. He would later leave Tanduay and play for two other teams in separate years. Dela Cruz was a four-time PBA champion, played for the Philippine flag, and won gold twice in the Southeast Asian Games. Michael Fitzgerald Morrison (born August 16, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. A product of Loyola College in Maryland, he is the school's first Division I-era player to have been selected in the NBA draft, the second Loyola Greyhound drafted being Santi Aldama in 2021. Bobby Parks
Bobby Ray Parks Sr. (November 26, 1961 – March 30, 2013) was an American professional basketball player from Grand Junction, Tennessee. He played for Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) from 1980 to 1984 and played internationally in the Philippines, Indonesia and France. The TNT Tropang 5G is a professional basketball team currently owned by Smart Communications, a subsidiary of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) since 1990. The franchise began in 1990 when Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc. (PCPPI) acquired a PBA franchise. Under PCPPI, the franchise played under the names Pepsi and 7 Up.
