The 1993 Qatar Open, known as the Qatar Mobil Open for sponsorship reasons, was an ATP Tour men's tennis tournament held in Doha, Qatar from 4 January until 11 January 1993. It was the inaugural edition of the tournament. The tournament saw third-seeded Boris Becker claim his 1st title of the year, and the 51st of his career. Boris Becker
Boris Franz Becker (, ; born 22 November 1967) is a German former world No. 1 tennis player. Becker was successful from the start of his career, winning the Wimbledon Championships at the age of 17. He ultimately won six Grand Slam singles titles: three Wimbledon Championships, two Australian Opens and one US Open. Becker also won three year-end championships, 13 Masters titles and an Olympic gold medal. In 1989, he was voted the Player of the Year by both the ATP and the ITF. Patrik Kühnen
Patrik Kühnen (born 11 February 1966) is a German former professional tennis player, who turned professional in 1985. Kühnen had his biggest career singles win in the fourth round at Wimbledon in 1988 when he beat Jimmy Connors en route to the quarterfinals in which he lost to eventual champion Stefan Edberg. The right-hander reached his highest singles ATP-ranking on May 15, 1989, when he became the number 43 of the world. He won three doubles titles during his career. John Barrett (tennis)
John Edward Barrett, (born 17 April 1931) is a former tennis player, television commentator and author. He was born in Mill Hill, North West London, the son of Alfred Edward Barrett, a leaf tobacco merchant, and Margaret Helen Barrett (née Walker). He had one sister, Irene Margaret Leppington (1925–2009), a research chemist. Goran Ivanišević
Goran Ivanišević (; born 13 September 1971) is a Croatian former professional tennis player and current coach. He is the only player to win a Wimbledon singles title as a wildcard. He achieved this in 2001 while ranked world No. 125, after being runner-up at Wimbledon in 1992, 1994 and 1998. Ivanišević's career-high singles ranking was world No. 2, achieved in July 1994.
