1993 Categoría Primera B Season
The 1993 Categoría Primera B season, (officially known as the 1993 Copa Concasa for sponsorship reasons) was the 3rd season of Colombia's second division football league. Cortuluá won the tournament for the first time and was promoted to the Categoría Primera A. Plácido Bonilla, playing for Cortuluá, was the topscorer with 21 goals. Teams 14 teams take part in the season. The previous season's champions Atlético Huila was promoted to Primera A for the 1993 season, being replaced in Primera B for this season by Real Cartagena, who were relegated from Primera A at the end of the 1992 season after finishing in the bottom of the top tier's aggregate table. Three additional teams, Deportes Risaralda, Fiorentina and Lanceros Boyacá, were accepted by DIMAYOR to compete in the tournament. Categoría Primera B
Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. Buenaventura is a coastal seaport city located in the Pacific Region of the department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia (South America). Estadio Daniel Villa Zapata is a multi-use stadium in Barrancabermeja, Colombia. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches. Barrancabermeja () is a municipality and city in Colombia, located on the shore of the Magdalena River, in the western part of the department of Santander. Alianza Petrolera Fútbol Club was a Colombian professional football team based in Barrancabermeja, Santander, that last played in the Categoría Primera A. The club was founded in 1991 and played in the Categoría Primera B until 2012. They played their home games at the Daniel Villa Zapata stadium. They also played home matches in the town of Guarne, Antioquia, in Yopal, Casanare and in Floridablanca. The club was dissolved in January 2024, with Alianza F.C. taking their place.
