The 1992–93 Primera División season was the second category of the Spanish basketball league system during the 1992–93 season. It was the third played with the name of ''Primera División''. Format 32 teams played this season and were divided into two groups of 16 teams called Group A and Group B. *First Phase **Group A, teams that the previous season earned their place in the category. Spanish Basketball League System
The Spanish basketball league system is a series of League system, connected competitions for professional basketball clubs in Spain. The system has a hierarchical format with a promotion and relegation system between competitions at different levels. Men There are currently four different nation-wide leagues in the system - the 1st tier Liga ACB, the 2nd tier LEB Oro, the 3rd tier LEB Plata and the 4th tier Liga EBA. Liga ACB is organized by the ''Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto'' (Basketball Clubs Association), which is a private organization. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. Loja (), formerly Loxa, is a town in southern Spain, situated at the western limit of the province of Granada. Gijón Baloncesto was a basketball team based in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. History Gijón Baloncesto was established in 1982, after taking over the franchise of another local team, Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga, who was undergoing financial difficulties. In its first year, the club played in the third tier and immediately promoted to Primera División B, the second division in the Spanish league system. GB continued playing in the second tier from 1984 to 1995, when the club achieves promotion to Liga ACB after finishing runner-up of the 1994–95 Liga EBA and beating Lucentum in the semifinal game. Askatuak Saki-Baloi Taldea is a basketball club based in San Sebastián, in the Basque Country of Spain, that plays in the Liga EBA.
