1992–93 FC Basel Season
The FC Basel, Fussball Club Basel 1893 1992–93 season was their 100th anniversary season since the club's foundation. Peter Epting took over as the club's chairman that season from Charles Röthlisberger at the Annual General Meeting in March 1993. FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. Following their relegation in the 1987–88 season this was their fifth season in the second tier of Swiss football. Overview Pre-season Friedel Rausch was appointed as new trainer, following Karl Odermatt and Bruno Rahmen. The duo had taken over ad interim after Ernst-August Künnecke had been sacked toward the end of the previous season. After missing promotion during the last four seasons, the club's repeated priority aim was to return to the top flight of Swiss football. A number of players left the squad. Roger Glanzmann
Roger Glanzmann (born 15 April 1968) is a Swiss former footballer who played in zhe 1980s and 1990s as goalkeeper. Football career Glanzmann played his youth football with FC Therwil and advanced to their first team in the 1987–88 season as they played in the fourth tier of Swiss football. FC Basel had been relegated after the 1987–88 Nationalliga A season and because both goalkeepers and many other players left their squad, they were hiring new players. Goalkeeper Remo Brügger was signed in as a replacement from Luzern and Glanzmann also joined Basel from FC Therwil as his back up for their 1988–89 season under head coach Urs Siegenthaler. Vittorio Gottardi
Vittorio Gottardi (born 18 March 1967) is a Swiss former footballer who played in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He played mainly as a forward, but also as a midfielder. Gottardi first played for SC Dornach in the fourth tier of Swiss football. He joined FC Basel's first team for their 1989–90 season and signed his first professional contract under head coach Urs Siegenthaler in the second tier of Swiss football. After playing in three test games, Gottardi played his domestic league debut for his new club in the home game in the St. Jakob Stadium on 9 September 1989 as Basel won 2–0 against Grenchen. Gottardi scored his first goal for his club in the home game on 28 July 1990. But it was not enough to save the team, as Basel were defeated 1–2 by Locarno. Martin Thalmann
Martin Thalmann (born 5 September 1972) is a Swiss former professional footballer who played in the 1990s and early 2000s. He played mainly in the position as defender, but also as midfielder. Career Thalmann came through the youth system of FC Basel and advanced to their U-21 team 1990. He was called up to their first team many times in their 1990–91 season under head coach Ernst August Künnecke. He played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game in the St. Jakob Stadium on 22 December 1990 as Basel won 6–2 against Schaffhausen. In that season he played just two league matches. In the following season he was also called into their first team and had three appearances for them. Thalmann left FCB in the summer of 1992 and moved to FC Riehen. Miodrag Đurđević (born 2 June 1961 in Doboj) is a Yugoslav/Bosnian-Herzegovinian retired football player. Club career On the club level, Đurđević advanced to Borac Banja Luka's first team in 1978. Boris Mancastroppa-Dondé (2 July 1968) is a Swiss pop artist and former footballer. He is known for his starting roles with FC Red Star Zürich, FC Basel and FC Schaffhausen.
