1991–92 NSL Cup
The 1991–92 NSL Cup was the 16th edition of the NSL Cup, which was the main national association football single-elimination tournament, knockout cup competition in Australia. Parramatta FC, Melita Eagles were the defending champions, having defeated Preston Lions FC, Preston Makedonia to win their first title in the previous year's 1991 NSL Cup final, final, but they were eliminated in the first round by Sydney United 58 FC, Sydney Croatia. Adelaide City FC, Adelaide City defeated Marconi Stallions FC, Marconi Fairfield 2–1 in the 1992 NSL Cup final, final to win their third NSL Cup title. Teams The NSL Cup was a knockout competition with 14 teams taking part all trying to reach the Final in April 1992. The competition consisted of the 14 teams from the National Soccer League. Adelaide City Football Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Oakden, a north-eastern suburb of Adelaide. The club was a founding member of the now-defunct National Soccer League (NSL) and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues South Australia (NPL SA). The club was founded in 1946 by Adelaide's Italian community, who named the club Juventus. Adelaide City was one of 14 founding members of the National Soccer League in 1977 and competed concurrently in every edition of the competition before withdrawing a few weeks before the beginning of the league's final season. The club is one of Australia's most successful, their first major silverware coming in 1979 when they defeated St George in the NSL Cup final. Con Boutsianis
Constantinos "Con" Boutsianis (born 27 December 1971 in Melbourne) is an Australian soccer player and former international, noted for his ability in dead ball situations. Career South Melbourne FC Boutsianis was a boyhood South Melbourne Hellas fan and began playing at the club from age 10. After impressive performances for the South Melbourne youth side, the legendary Hungarian coach Ferenc Puskas placed his faith in the young winger and called him up to the senior team. Boutsianis began his senior career with South Melbourne in the National Soccer League in 1989, becoming known as a goalscoring midfielder. Paul Trimboli
Paolo "Paul" Vincenzo Trimboli (born 25 February 1969) is a former Australian international football (soccer) player. Trimboli is of Italian ancestry and attended Xavier College in Melbourne, where he was a member of the first soccer XI, captained by his brother. Club career South Melbourne FC Signed as a 19-year old from Sunshine George Cross, Trimboli rapidly showed why he was considered one of Australia's brightest talents. Primarily playing behind the striker, Trimboli terrorised opposition defences with his skill and vision. Warren Spink (born 4 October 1966) is a former soccer player. Born in England, he made 38 appearances for the Australia national team scoring 9 goals, and also represented Australia at under-20 and under-23 levels. He played for several Australian club sides, as well as in the Malaysian League for the Singapore FA side and the S.League for Geylang United. Olympic Park Stadium (Melbourne)
Olympic Park Stadium was a multi-purpose outdoor stadium located on Olympic Boulevard in inner Melbourne, Australia. The stadium was built as an athletics training venue for the 1956 Olympics, a short distance from the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which served as the Olympic Stadium. Over the years it was the home of rugby league side, Melbourne Storm and the A-League team, Melbourne Victory; throughout its life the stadium played host to athletics. Olympic Park Stadium was located in Olympic Park, which is part of the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct. Phil Stubbins
Phil Stubbins is a former football player and now manager who is the head coach oAdelaide University Soccer Clubin the National Premier Leagues competition in South Australia. Early years Stubbins is from Hull, England, migrating to Australia in 1988. After schoolboy beginnings with his hometown club Hull City AFC, Stubbins also played top flight Football in Australia for both Heidelberg United and South Melbourne FC, as well as fulfilling further playing opportunities within South East Asia. Leaving Australian football altogether for a period in 1993, he pursued interests onto the Australasian PGA Golf Tour. His golfing ambitions failed however, lured back to football as player/manager of Westvale Olympic FC in 1994.
