1990–91 Major Soccer League Season
The 1990–91 Major Soccer League season was the 13th and penultimate in league history and would end with the San Diego Sockers winning their ninth NASL or MISL title in ten indoor seasons and fourth MISL title in a row. Recap This was the first offseason in MISL history that did not have any franchise movement or collapse. After the season, however, the Kansas City Comets folded. In a nod to the burgeoning nationwide interest in outdoor soccer after the 1990 World Cup, the league's name was changed on July 24. Also, Commissioner Earl Foreman was selected to chair the United States Soccer Federation's exploratory committee for a first-division outdoor league. Major Indoor Soccer League (1978–1992)
The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), known in its final two seasons as the Major Soccer League, was an indoor soccer league in the United States that played matches from fall 1978 to spring 1992. History The MISL was founded by businessmen Ed Tepper and Earl Foreman in October 1977. The league fielded six teams for its inaugural 1978–79 season. Before folding after 14 seasons of competition, at the conclusion of the 1991–92 season, a total of 24 franchises – under 31 team names (seven teams changed city/name) – had played in the MISL. Over its life, MISL teams were based in 27 different cities – with two different teams, at different times, playing in Cleveland, Ohio; East Rutherford, New Jersey; St. Louis, Missouri; and Uniondale, New York. Dallas Sidekicks (1984–2004)
The Dallas Sidekicks were one of the longest operating professional soccer teams, either indoor soccer, indoor or football (soccer), outdoor, in the United States, based in Dallas, Texas, and operating from 1984 until suspending operations following the 2003–04 season. The team was founded as a member of the original Major Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League. Over the years, the team played in four other leagues (Continental Indoor Soccer League, CISL, World Indoor Soccer League, WISL, Premier Soccer Alliance, PSA, and the second incarnation of the Major Indoor Soccer League (2001–2008), MISL). Kansas Coliseum was an entertainment complex in unincorporated Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. It was located north of Wichita, Kansas, Wichita at the intersection of Interstate 135 and 85th Street North.
