1989–90 Quebec Nordiques Season
The 1989–90 Quebec Nordiques season was the Nordiques 11th season in the National Hockey League. Offseason The Nordiques would not bring back Jean Perron, who finished the 1988–89 season as the interim head coach of the team. Quebec would bring back former head coach Michel Bergeron, who had coached the club from 1980 to 1987. Bergeron left the Nordiques to coach the New York Rangers from 1987 to 1989, leading them to two consecutive 82 point seasons. The club also named Martin Madden as the new general manager. At the 1989 NHL entry draft, the Nordiques had the first overall draft pick, and selected Mats Sundin from Nacka HK. Sundin became the first ever European born player drafted with the first overall selection. In 25 games with Nacka, Sundin had ten goals and 18 points. Adam Foote
Adam David Vernon Foote (born July 10, 1971) is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach and former player who is the head coach for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was also the former head coach of the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. He was best known for his physical presence and gritty play as a stay-at-home defenceman. Foote was drafted out of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) 22nd overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft by the Quebec Nordiques. He began his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Nordiques in 1991–92 before the franchise relocated to Colorado, where he won two Stanley Cups in 1996 and 2001. In 2005, Foote signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he served as team captain for three seasons. Kevin Kaminski
Kevin Kaminski (born March 13, 1969) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played 139 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars, Quebec Nordiques, and Washington Capitals between 1988 and 1997. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1998 to 2000, was spent in the minor leagues, where his role was an enforcer. He is currently the head coach of the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Minnesota North Stars
The Minnesota North Stars were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 26 seasons, from 1967 to 1993. The North Stars played their home games at the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, and the team's colors for most of its history were green, yellow, gold and white. Robert Thomas Mason (born April 22, 1961) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender. Claude Loiselle
Claude Loiselle (born May 29, 1963) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1981 to 1994. Playing career As a youth, Loiselle played in the 1975 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from East Ottawa. Loiselle played with the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Windsor Spitfires and the Adirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League (AHL) before embarking on his NHL career. Joe Cirella
Joseph Cirella (born May 9, 1963) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in 828 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He has additionally served as assistant coach and assistant general manager of the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. Cirella was born in Hamilton, Ontario, but grew up in Stoney Creek, Ontario. The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. Walt Poddubny
Walter Michael Poddubny (February 14, 1960 – March 21, 2009) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger and coach who played eleven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1981–82 until 1991–92. He played 468 career NHL games, scoring 184 goals and 238 assists for 422 points. Career Poddubny was drafted 90th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft.
