1988–89 AC Milan Season
AC Milan won the 1988–89 European Cup, European Cup thanks to a 4–0 victory against FC Steaua București, Steaua București, with Dutch duo Ruud Gullit and Marco van Basten scoring twice each. It did not defend its Serie A title however, finishing 3rd in the standings. Milan also won the first Supercoppa Italiana, beating U.C. Sampdoria, Sampdoria in the inaugural contest. AC Milan
(), commonly referred to as Milan or AC Milan () mainly outside of Italy, is an Italian professional Football club (association football), football club based in Milan, Lombardy. Founded in 1899, the club competes in the Serie A, the top tier of Italian football league system, Italian football. Mauro Tassotti (; born in Rome, 19 January 1960) is an Italian manager and former Association football, footballer who played predominantly as a right back. After making his Serie A debut with SS Lazio, Lazio, he went on to play with AC Milan for 17 years. Sergio Porrini (; born 8 November 1968) is an Italian football coach and former centre-back and right-back defender. Porrini played for several Italian clubs throughout his career, although he is most well known for his periods at Juventus, and Scottish club Rangers, where he won several titles. Gianluca Pessotto
Gianluca Pessotto (; born 11 August 1970) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. A former Italy international, he spent the majority of his club career with Juventus, where he won several domestic and international trophies, and is now head of its youth system. He represented his country at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, and at UEFA Euro 2000, reaching the final of the latter tournament. Roberto Mussi (; born 25 August 1963) is an Italian former professional footballer, who played as a defender; a versatile player, he was capable of playing both as a centre-back or right-back. Paolo Maldini
Paolo Cesare Maldini (; born 26 June 1968) is an Italian football executive and former professional footballer who played as a left-back or as a centre-back for AC Milan and the Italy national team. Walter Bianchi
Walter Bianchi (born 7 November 1963) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender, usually as a left-back, although he was also capable of playing on the right. Playing career Bianchi made his Serie A debut with AC Milan on 13 September 1987, in a 3–1 away win over Pisa. Franchino Baresi (; born 8 May 1960) is an Italian football youth team coach and a former player and manager. He mainly played as a sweeper or as a central defender, and spent his entire 20-year career with Serie A club AC Milan, captaining the club for 15 seasons.
