1986–87 FC Basel Season
The Fussball Club Basel 1893 1986–87 season was their 93rd season since the club's foundation. It was their 41st consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football since they achieved promotion in the 1945–46 season. FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. Peter Max Sutter was the club's newly appointed chairman. Overview Pre-season Helmut Benthaus had returned first team manager the season before, this was his second consecutive season as coach. There were a number of changes in the team. The defenders Ertan Irizik moved on to St. Gallen, Francois Laydu moved on to Locarno, Stefano Ceccaroni moved to FC Laufen and Alfred Lüthi moved on to Grenchen. Further the midfielder Martin Jeitziner moved on to Young Boys, and the two forwards Beat Sutter moved on to Xamax and Ruedi Zbinden moved on to Grenchen. FC Grenchen
FC Grenchen is a Swiss football club, based in Grenchen. They currently play in the 2. Liga, and play their matches at the Brühl Stadium. History FC Grenchen was founded in 1906. In 1937 they gained promotion to the top league of Swiss football, Nationalliga A, in these inter-war years they came runners-up in this league three times, and runner up in the cup, but their biggest success came post-war coming second in the league one further time and winning the cup in 1959. Bruno Hänni
Bruno Hänni (born 13 October 1961) is a Swiss retired footballer who played in the 1980s as midfielder. Hänni first played for FC Oensingen. He joined FC Basel's first team for their 1986–87 season under head-coach Helmut Benthaus. After playing in seven test games, Hänni played his domestic league debut for his new club in the away game on 30 August 1986 as Basel were defeated 0–2 by Luzern. At the end of the following 1987–88 Nationalliga A season, under manager Urs Siegenthaler, Hänni and his team suffered relegation, but he stayed on with the club. Markus Hodel
Markus Hodel (born 4 May 1961) is a Swiss retired footballer who played in the 1980s. He played as defender. Hodel was selected for the regional team (Nordwest-Schweiz Auswahl) in 1975 and played later 15 matches for the Swiss junior national team. Hodel played for three years (1980-1982) for FC Binningen & two years from 1983 to 1985 for FC Concordia Basel in the 1st League. Füri played his youth football with FC Concordia Basel and advanced to their first team in the 1984–1985 season. Jean-Pierre François
Jean-Pierre François (born 7 June 1965) is a French singer and former footballer. He remained particularly known for his 1989 summer hit " Je te survivrai", a love song written by Didier Barbelivien, which reached number 2 on the French Singles Chart. Stefan Bützer (born 17 September 1965) is a Switzerland, Swiss retired association football, footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s as midfielder.
