1985–86 Cypriot Second Division
The 1985–86 Cypriot Second Division was the 31st season of the Cypriot second-level football league. Ethnikos Achna FC won their 1st title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 1985–86 Cypriot Second Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first two teams were promoted to 1986–87 Cypriot First Division. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division () is the second highest association football, football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administered by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top three teams being Promotion and relegation, promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last three teams being Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. History The Cypriot Second Division started unofficially the 1934–35 football season as the second level of the Cypriot football (Cyprus Football Association founded in 1934). The competition consisted of teams that didn't participate in Cypriot First Division and the reserve teams of the Cypriot First Division clubs. In the reserve teams were allowed to participate only players that had no more than three caps with their team in First Division. The reserve teams won all the titles of the unofficial period. 1985–86 Cypriot Cup
The 1985–86 Cypriot Cup was the 44th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 41 clubs entered the competition. It began on 4 December 1985 with the preliminary round and concluded on 23 June 1986 with the final which was held at Tsirion Stadium. Apollon won their 3rd Cypriot Cup trophy after beating APOEL 2–0 in the final. Format In the 1985–86 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, 13 of 14 teams from the Cypriot Second Division and all the teams of the Cypriot Third Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In the preliminary round each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of one of the two teams, according to the draw results. Each tie winner was qualifying to the next round. If a match was drawn, extra time was following. Akritas Chlorakas () is a Cypriot football club based in Chloraka, Paphos. The club was founded in 1971 and currently plays in the Cypriot Second Division. Anagennisi Deryneia () is a Cypriot football team based in Deryneia, Famagusta. The club was founded in 1920 and they joined the Cyprus Football Association in 1972. The team was part of the Keravnos B.C. sports club, which was founded in 1926; the parent club fields a men's basketball team. Founding The Men's football division was originally formed in 1926 when Aggelos Hadjiiosif, part of Keravnos B.C. sports club, approached an amateur football team called "Neolea"(). The team, formed by various school students from the Nicosia District, qualified for the finals of a league held in Lakatamia where amateur teams were participating.
