The 1984–85 season was the 39th season in Rijeka’s history and their 23rd season in the Yugoslav First League. Their 4th place finish in the 1983–84 season meant it was their 11th successive season playing in the Yugoslav First League. HNK Rijeka
Hrvatski nogometni klub Rijeka (), commonly referred to as HNK Rijeka, is a Croatian professional association football club from the city of Rijeka. HNK Rijeka competes in Croatia's top division, Croatian First Football League, Supersport HNL, of which they have been members since its foundation in 1992 and is the 2024-25 Croatian Football League, current champion. Danko Matrljan (born 4 March 1960) is a Croatian former professional association football, football striker (association football), striker who played for HNK Rijeka, NK Pomorac Kostrena, Pomorac, Orijent Rijeka, French club US Orléans, Orléans and Spanish side CD Logroñés, Logroñés. He works as an assistant manager for the Croatian top division club HNK Rijeka. Career Matrljan was born in Rijeka. He scored a goal for HNK Rijeka, Rijekaagainst Real Madrid in the 1984–85 UEFA Cup on 24 October 1984. Boris Tičić (born 22 May 1957) is a Croatian football defender and later manager. Playing career Tičić played for Orijent before joining local rivals Rijeka. Karađorđe Stadium
Karađorđe Stadium ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Стадион Карађорђе, Stadion Karađorđe) is a multi-purpose stadium in Novi Sad, Serbia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Vojvodina. The stadium is one of the most modern stadiums in Serbia and has one of the best pitches in the country. Nenad Gračan
Nenad Gračan (born 23 January 1962) is a Croatian football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He is the coach of the Croatia women's national football team. Club career Born in Rijeka, SFR Yugoslavia, Gračan started playing professionally for hometown's NK Orijent and, soon thereafter, HNK Rijeka, amassing nearly 150 official appearances. He then moved to another club in his native Croatia, HNK Hajduk Split. During his first match at Hajduk Gračan was injured while playing against his former club by Mladen Mladenović who nearly broke Gračan's leg. Damir Desnica (born 20 December 1956) is a Croatian and Yugoslav retired footballer who played as a forward. Born deaf, Desnica spent the majority of his career in the 1970s and 1980s with Rijeka, winning two Yugoslav Cup titles (1978, 1979) and one Balkans Cup (1978). Playing primarily as a left winger for Rijeka, Desnica was known for his pace and dribbling ability. He is remembered as a key figure during the club's successful period in the late 1970s. Desnica earned one senior international cap for Yugoslavia in 1978 and won a bronze medal with the Yugoslav deaf football team at the 1973 International Silent Games in Sweden.
