1984–85 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 1984–85 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 4th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The World Cup began in Cogne, Italy on 9 December 1984 and finished in Oslo, Norway on 17 March 1985. Gunde Svan of Sweden won the overall men's cup, and Anette Bøe of Norway won the women's. Harri Kirvesniemi
Harri Tapani Kirvesniemi (born 10 May 1958) is a Finnish former cross-country skier who competed from 1980 to 2001. During his career he won six Olympic medals (all bronzes), and also the 50 km event at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 2000. He retired after being caught doping at the 2001 World Championship in Lahti. Career His biggest successes though were at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, where he earned a total of eight medals. This included one gold (15 km: 1989), three silvers (4 × 10 km relay: 1989, 1995. 1997), and four bronzes (15 km: 1982, 30 km: 1985, 4 × 10 km relay: 1982 (shared with East Germany), 1991). In 1998, he earned the Holmenkollen medal (shared with Fred Børre Lundberg, Larissa Lazutina, and Alexey Prokurorov). Antonina Ordina
Antonina Ordina (, born 24 January 1962) is a Soviet/ Swedish former cross-country skier who competed at international level from 1985 to 2002. In the Soviet Union she trained at Dynamo in Kalinin. She won three medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, with a gold in the 4 × 5 km relay (1987 and bronzes in the 30 km and the 4 × 5 km relay (both 1995). Ordina's best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was seventh in the 15 km event at Lillehammer in 1994. She also has nineteen victories at various levels in various distances from 1992 to 2002. She became a Swedish citizen in 1994. Brit Pettersen Tofte (born 24 November 1961) is a Norwegian former cross-country skier who competed during the 1980s. Pettersen earned one gold and two bronzes at two Winter Olympic Games. At the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, she won one gold (4 × 5 km relay - 1982), one silver (20 km - 1985), and two bronzes (5 km - 1982, 10 km - 1987). She also won the 20 km competition at the Holmenkollen ski festival twice (1983 and 1987). In the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, she finished second twice (1981–82, 1982–83) and third twice (1984–85, 1985–86). She won the Holmenkollen medal in 1986. Val Di Sole
The Sole Valley (, or , ) is a valley in Trentino, northern Italy. Sole Valley applies to the Vermiglio Valley, the east-west aligned valley of the river Noce and its sidevalleys, among which the Peio Valley that heads to the Ortler. The rest of the valley from Ossana to Mostizzolo is simply called Sole Valley. Some of the towns in the valley are Vermiglio, Peio, Dimaro, Croviana and Malè (the main town). Giachem Guidon (born 4 September 1961 in Bever) is a Swiss cross-country skier who competed from 1982 to 1994. Competing in four Winter Olympics, he earned his best career finish of fourth in the 4 × 10 km relay at Calgary in 1988 and his best individual finish of 12th in the 15 km event at Sarajevo in 1984. Falun
Falun () is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with just over 100,000 inhabitants. Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992). Faluån is a river, flowing through the city, separating it into two sides. Falu copper mine is located on one of the sides which during many centuries was one of Sweden's main business. Jan Ottosson
Jan Ottosson (born 10 March 1960 in Högsäter, Dalsland) is a former Swedish cross-country skier. A national team skier, he also represented Åsarna IK during the 1980s and early 1990s. He won two gold medals in the 4 × 10 km relay at the Winter Olympics (1984 and 1988), providing some of the most iconic and impressive legs of Swedish Olympic history. Additionally, he finished sixth in the 50 km event at the 1988 Winter Olympics, sixth in the 15 km event at the 1991 Nordic skiing World Championships, won eight individual Swedish championships, and won ten Swedish championship gold medals in the relays. Syktyvkar (, , ; , ) is the capital city of the Komi Republic in Russia, as well as its largest city. It is also the administrative center of the Syktyvkar Urban Okrug.
