Sean Kelly (cyclist)
John James 'Sean' Kelly (born 24 May 1956) is an Irish former professional road bicycle racer, one of the most successful road cyclists of the 1980s, and one of the finest Classic cycle races, Classics riders of all time. From becoming a professional in 1977 until his retirement in 1994, he won 193 professional races, including nine Cycling monument, Monument Classics, Paris–Nice a record seven years consecutively and the first UCI Road World Cup in 1989. Kelly won one Grand Tour (cycling), Grand Tour, the 1988 Vuelta a España, and four Points classification in the Tour de France, green jerseys in the Tour de France. Bretagne Classic
The Bretagne Classic, also called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France, is an elite classic cycle races, cycling classic held annually in late summer around the Brittany, Breton village of Plouay in western France. The race was originally named Grand-Prix de Plouay and, from 1989 to 2015, GP Ouest-France. It was included in the inaugural UCI ProTour in 2005 and in 2011 in its successor, the UCI World Tour. Since 2016 it is called Bretagne Classic Ouest-France. Since 2002, a women's event, the Classic Lorient Agglomération is organized on Saturday, the day before the men's race. Supporting events have grown over the years and now include BMX races, track racing and a mass-participation ride, as part of a four–day festival in the last summer weekend in Brittany. Régis Clère
Régis Clère (15 August 1956 – 9 June 2012) was a French professional road bicycle racer. Clère was born in Langres. During his career, he won three stages in the Tour de France. He won one of these stages, in the 1987 Tour de France, after he was almost eliminated after finishing outside the time limit in the previous stage, but the Tour de France jury allowed him to continue the race. In 1981, he won two stages of the Vuelta a España, and the French National Road Race Championships the following year. He also competed in the Cycling at the 1980 Summer Olympics – Men's individual road race, individual road race event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Clère died, aged 55, in Dijon during a surgical procedure. Pascal Simon (born 27 September 1956) is a retired French road racing cyclist. A native of Mesnil St. Loup, he was a professional cyclist from 1979 to 1991. Pascal was the oldest of four brothers that all became professional cyclists: Régis, Jerôme and François. In 1983, Simon obtained the yellow jersey while riding for Cycles Peugeot after the tenth stage of the Tour de France. One day later, Simon fell down and broke his shoulder. Simon continued for six more days, before the injury forced him out of the race. Skil (cycling Team)
Skil-Sem was a French professional cycling team which competed during both the 1984 and 1985 seasons. It was the continuation of the Sem-France Loire team. Skil-Sem was the team with which the team's leader, Sean Kelly, dominated the sport in 1984. Another team member, the French rider Éric Caritoux, also won the Vuelta a España in 1984. The team was directed by Jean de Gribaldy. History In 1984, Skil, a manufacturer of small power tools, became main sponsor of the Sem-France Loire team, directed by Jean de Gribaldy. As a member of Sem-France Loire, Kelly had twice won Paris–Nice and had won the points classification in the Tour de France two times. Kelly also won the Giro di Lombardia for the team in 1983. During the 1984 season the team was called Skil-Sem-Mavic-Reydel and was directed by de Gribaldy and Christian Rumeau. Kelly dominated racing that spring and won 33 times in total.
