The following is the 1982–83 network television schedule for the three major English language commercial broadcast networks in the United States. The schedule covers primetime hours from September 1982 through August 1983. The schedule is followed by a list per network of returning series, new series, and series cancelled after the 1981–82 season. All times are Eastern and Pacific, with certain exceptions, such as ''Monday Night Football''. New series are highlighted in bold. In the United States, for most of the history of broadcasting, there were only three or four major commercial national Terrestrial television, terrestrial television network, networks. From 1946 to 1956, these were American Broadcasting Company, ABC, CBS, NBC and DuMont Television Network, DuMont.
