1980–81 Honduran Liga Nacional
The 1980–81 Honduran Liga Nacional season was the 15th edition of the Honduran Liga Nacional. The format of the tournament remained the same as the previous season. Real C.D. España won the title after defeating C.D. Marathón in a 3-series final. Both teams qualified to the 1981 CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Additionally, Real España, Marathón, Club Deportivo Olimpia and C.D.S. Vida obtained berths to the 1981 Copa Fraternidad. Due to the national team's participation at the 1982 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the league defined that no relegation was to take place this season. C.D. Liga Nacional De Fútbol Profesional De Honduras
Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras, known as Liga Hondubet for sponsorship reasons (''Honduran National Professional Football League'') is the highest division of domestic Association football, football in Honduras. The league season is divided into Apertura and Clausura, Opening (autumn) and Closing (spring). One team is relegated to the Honduran Liga Nacional de Ascenso, Liga de Ascenso (the team with fewest points in Opening and Closing) and one team is promoted from Honduran Liga Nacional de Ascenso, Liga de Ascenso. The top four clubs participate in play-offs to decide the champion. History In the 1930s, football experienced a surge in popularity in the country. Pumas UNAH
Pumas de la UNAH or simply Universidad was a Honduran football club. History They were formed to represent the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras. They merged with Broncos, forming ''Broncos de la UNAH'', twice in 1982–83 and 2006–07 and meanwhile played in Choluteca those two seasons.
