1979–80 Alpha Ethniki
The 1979–80 Alpha Ethniki was the 44th season of the highest football league of Greece. From that season Alpha Ethniki became the professional league. The season began on 30 September 1979 and ended on 25 May 1980 with the play-off matches. Olympiacos won their 21st Greek title and their first one in five years. The point system was: ''Win: 2 points'' - ''Draw: 1 point''. Alpha Ethniki
The Super League Greece 1 (), or Stoiximan Super League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Greece and the highest level of the Greek football league system. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek league system. The members of the cooperative are the Football Limited Companies (P.A.E.) that have the right to participate in the Super League 1 championship. The president of Super League 1 is Evangelos Marinakis, Vangelis Marinakis, who has been re-elected for the third time. It consists of 14 teams and runs from August to May, with teams playing 26 games each followed by 6-game Championship play-offs to decide the champions. As of April 2025, Super League Greece is ranked 12th in the UEFA coefficient, UEFA ranking of leagues, based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Vangelis Kousoulakis (Greek: Βαγγέλης Κουσουλάκης; born 16 April 1954) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career He started his career at Iraklis in 1971. He was a part of the team that won the Greek Cup in 1976. In 1979, Kousoulakis joined Olympiacos winning four championships in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983. Filotas Pellios
Filotas Pellios (; born 22 March 1953) is a retired Greek footballer. He is president of the PAOK veterans association. Career Pellios started his career in the academies of Olympiakos Kymina at the age of 13 and continued in PAOK at the age of 16. In 1972, he was promoted to the PAOK senior side where he played for fifteen years. He won the Greek Cup in 1974 and the Greek Championship in 1976, logging 221 appearances and 4 goals in total for PAOK. 1980–81 Beta Ethniki
The 1980–81 Beta Ethniki season was 22nd edition of second tier nationwide championship of Greece. Forty teams participated in the league, divided in two groups, the ''South and the North Group''. Iraklis was named champion of the North Group and got promoted to the Alpha Ethniki. In the South Group Egaleo and Rodos tied and a play-off match, that found Rodos victorious by a 1-0 scoreline, decided the team that was named champion of the South Group and got promoted to the Alpha Ethniki. On the other hand, Pelopas Kiato, Olympiakos Neon Liosion, AO Patra and Panarkadikos got relegated to the C National Amateur Division from the South Group.
