1979 Supertaça De Portugal
The 1979 Supertaça de Portugal was the 1st edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, Supertaça de Portugal although not the 1st official edition, the annual Portugal, Portuguese association football, football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top Primeira Liga, league and Taça de Portugal, cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). The 1979 Supertaça de Portugal took place at the Estádio das Antas in Porto, home of FC Porto on the 17 August 1979, thus opening the 1979-1980 season. It was contested between two team from the city of Porto, F.C. Porto, the winners of the 1978–79 Primeira Divisão, and Boavista F.C., the winners of the 1979 Taça de Portugal Final, 1978–79 Taça de Portugal. The Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira (; English: Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, or simply Portuguese Super Cup) is an annual Portuguese association football, football match played since 1979 between the winners of the top-tier league (Primeira Liga) and cup (Taça de Portugal) competitions. Fernando Mendes Soares Gomes (22 November 1956 – 26 November 2022) was a Portuguese professional footballer who played as a striker. He achieved great success with Porto, during the late 1970s and 1980s. He represented Sporting CP in the Primeira Liga as well, and also spent two years in Spain with Sporting de Gijón. António Frasco
António Manuel Frasco Vieira (born 16 January 1955), known as Frasco, is a Portuguese former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Best known for his 11-year spell with Porto, he appeared in 306 competitive matches for the club and won a total of 12 titles.
