1976 Tirreno–Adriatico
The 1976 Tirreno–Adriatico was the 11th edition of the Tirreno–Adriatico cycle race and was held from 12 March to 16 March 1976. The race started in Santa Marinella and finished in San Benedetto del Tronto. The race was won by Roger De Vlaeminck of the Brooklyn team. Francesco Moser
Francesco Moser (, ; born 19 June 1951), nicknamed "Lo sceriffo" (The sheriff), is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer. He finished on the podium of the Giro d'Italia six times including his win in the 1984 edition. Moser was dominant from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. He turned professional in 1973, showing a cultured pedaling style. But his powerful build meant he was not a gifted climber. He entered one edition of the Tour de France, in 1975, where he won two stages, held the maillot jaune for six days and finished 7th overall. He also won the 1977 world road racing championship in addition to collecting silver medals in 1976 and 1978. He won six times in three of the five monuments. Three consecutive editions of Paris–Roubaix, two victories in the Giro di Lombardia and one win in Milan–San Remo. Zonca was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1970 to 1979. It was founded by brothers Maffeo, Luigi and Giorgio Zonca. Franco Bitossi
Franco Bitossi (born 1 September 1940) is an Italian former professional cyclist. He was born in Camaioni di Carmignano. Career Bitossi cycled for three years as an amateur and became a professional in October 1961, after he had reached the required age of 21. As a professional cyclist, from 1961 until 1978, he won a total of 171 races. In 1965, he won the Tour de Suisse and the Züri-Metzgete, which he won again in 1968. In 1967 he won the Tirreno–Adriatico, Giro di Lombardia and Coppa Agostoni, while the following year he became the first Italian to win the points classification in the Tour de France. Roberto Poggiali
Roberto Poggiali (born 16 April 1941) is a retired Italian road racing cyclist. As an amateur he won the national road championship and one stage of the Tour de l'Avenir in 1962. He then turned professional and won the 1970 Tour de Suisse. He also rode the Giro d'Italia in 1963–74 and 1976–78, with the best result of eighth place in 1965, and Tour de France in 1967, 1969 and 1975, finishing 22nd in 1975. Felice Gimondi
Felice Gimondi (; 29 September 1942 – 16 August 2019) was an Italian professional racing cyclist. With his 1968 Vuelta a España, 1968 victory at the Vuelta a España, only three years after becoming a professional cyclist, Gimondi, nicknamed "The Phoenix", was the second cyclist (after Jacques Anquetil) to win all three ''Grand Tour (cycling), Grand Tours'' of road cycling: Tour de France (1965, his first year as a pro), Giro d'Italia (1967, 1969 and 1976), and Vuelta a España (1968). He is one of only Grand Tour (cycling)#Winners of all three Grand Tours, seven cyclists to have done so. Gimondi also won three of the five Cycling monuments, winning the Giro di Lombardia twice, and finished on the podium of a grand tour twelve times. Wladimiro Panizza
Wladimiro Panizza (5 June 1945 – 21 June 2002) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer. Panizza came from a Communist family and was named after Lenin. During his long career (1967–1985), he helped Felice Gimondi and Franco Bitossi. His best grand tour was the 1980 Giro d'Italia, where he placed second in the overall classification. He holds the record for number of starts and number of completions in the Giro, completing the race 16 times out of 18 starts. Giancarlo Bellini
Giancarlo Bellini (born 15 September 1945 in Crosa) is an Italian former road bicycle racer who won the mountains classification in the 1976 Tour de France. He also won a stage in the 1978 Giro d'Italia. Bellini won the first edition of the Amateur Giro d'Italia in 1970 before spending three years at in the service of Eddy Merckx. If doping controls to the standard that the sport has in 2024 existed then Bellini would've finished eighth in the 1978 1978 Giro d'Italia. Brooklyn (cycling Team)
Brooklyn was an Italian professional cycling team that existed from 1973 to 1977. It was a mainly a one-day classics team and featured riders such as Roger De Vlaeminck, who won Paris–Roubaix Paris–Roubaix is a one-day professional bicycle road race in northern France, starting north of Paris and finishing in Roubaix, at the border with Belgium. Santa Marinella is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Italy, Italian region of Lazio, located about northwest of Rome. It includes the beach resort of Santa Severa (the ancient Pyrgi), and a medieval castle. History In antiquity, Santa Marinella was the site of Punicum, an important Etruria, Etruscan port which served the city of Caere.
