National Hockey League
The National Hockey League (NHL; , ''LNH'') is a professional ice hockey league in North America composed of 32 teams25 in the United States and 7 in Canada. The NHL is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional ice hockey league in the world. Peter Lee (ice Hockey)
Peter John Lee (born January 2, 1956) is an English-born Canadian professional ice hockey manager and former professional ice hockey player. He played 431 National Hockey League games with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Lee has been serving as CEO of Eisbären Berlin of Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga since 2005. Early life Lee was born in Ellesmere, England, United Kingdom, and raised in Arvida, Quebec. As a youth, he learned to skate on the outdoor surface of Arvida's Powell Park, and later played for that town's Pee-Wee Orioles minor ice hockey. He played in the 1967, 1968 and 1969 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Orioles. The family moved to Ottawa in his mid-teen years. Wayne Thomas (ice Hockey)
Robert Wayne Thomas (born October 9, 1947) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers between 1972 and 1981. He also held several positions in coaching and management in the NHL and the minor leagues, including 22 years in management with the San Jose Sharks. Playing career Thomas played junior hockey from 1963 to 1967 with the Ottawa Capitals of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), and was the league's top goaltender in 1965–66. Thomas then played three years of varsity hockey at the University of Wisconsin under coach Bob Johnson. Thomas recorded a shutout in his first game with Wisconsin in 1968, an 11–0 victory against Pennsylvania. Bryan Hextall Jr
Bryan Lee Hextall Jr. (born May 23, 1941) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played in the National Hockey League from 1962 to 1976. Hextall comes from a family rich in the history of hockey. The son of Bryan Hextall, brother of Dennis Hextall, father of Ron Hextall, and grandfather of Brett Hextall, he played the majority of his NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He spent time with the New York Rangers, Atlanta Flames, Detroit Red Wings, and the Minnesota North Stars, as well as with additional teams in the American Hockey League, WHL, CSHL, and the EPHL. He retired from the NHL after 549 games, with a total of 99 goals, 161 assists, 260 points, and 736 penalty minutes. Dave Kryskow
David Roy Kryskow (born December 25, 1951) is a Canadian former ice hockey player. On March 25, 1971, Kryskow scored 5 goals in Game 3 of the Edmonton Oil Kings' WCHL quarterfinal playoff series vs the Saskatoon Blades. This was also against his former team. Edmonton won the series in five games. Kryskow became the first player to ever score five goals in a playoff game in the WCHL. The record was tied in 1978, 1981, and 2011, but even 40 years later was not broken. Kryskow finished the 1971 playoffs for the WCHL Champion Oil Kings with 16 goals and 33 points in 17 playoff games. Atlanta Flames
The Atlanta Flames were a professional ice hockey team based in Atlanta from 1972 until 1980. They played home games in the Omni Coliseum and were members of the West and later Patrick divisions of the National Hockey League (NHL). Along with the New York Islanders, the Flames were created in 1971 as part of the NHL's conflict with the rival World Hockey Association (WHA). The team enjoyed modest success on the ice, qualifying for the playoffs in six of its eight seasons, but failed to win a playoff series and won only two post-season games total. The franchise struggled to draw fans and, after averaging only 10,000 per game by the 1979–80 season was sold and relocated to Alberta to become the Calgary Flames. Ken Holland
Kenneth Mark Holland (born November 10, 1955) is a Canadian ice hockey executive and former goaltender, and is currently serving as the vice president and general manager of the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League. Holland most notably served as the executive vice president and general manager of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League from 1997 to 2019, winning four Stanley Cup championships. He also served as president of hockey operations and general manager of the Edmonton Oilers from 2019 to 2024. In 2009, Holland was listed as second-best overall on Sports Illustrated's list of the top sports executives of the 2000s.
