1975–76 Los Angeles Kings Season
The 1975–76 Los Angeles Kings season was the Kings' ninth season in the National Hockey League. Offseason The Kings were coming off their most successful season ever, built largely on the strength of their defense and goaltending. They ranked second in fewest goals allowed in the 1974–75 season, but tied for ninth in goals scored. In addition, while their penalty killing was excellent, their power play ranked in the lower third of the league. Their early round playoff upset by Toronto (where the Kings scored only six goals in three games) prompted them to make one of the biggest trades in club history. High scoring superstar Marcel Dionne was in a contract dispute with the Detroit Red Wings and was available to a team that would meet his salary demands. Bart Crashley
Bart Crashley (born June 15, 1946) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 148 games in the National Hockey League and 140 games in the World Hockey Association. He played for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Sharks, Kansas City Scouts, and Los Angeles Kings between 1965 and 1976. Playing career Crashley was a promising rushing defenceman in his rookie year of 1967–68 with Detroit where he wore sweater #15 and was paired with Gary Bergman. His style of play was not encouraged by coach Sid Abel who reportedly instructed Crashley to not carry the puck past his own blueline. Crashley was subsequently traded to Montreal where he played in their farm system. Crashley was selected by the New York Islanders in 1972 expansion draft, but opted to join Los Angeles Sharks of the World Hockey Association, spending two seasons there. The 1975–76 Montreal Canadiens season was the club's 67th season. The Canadiens won their 19th Stanley Cup in club history. Bob Miller (sports Announcer)
Robert James Miller (born October 12, 1938) is an American retired sportscaster, best known as the play-by-play announcer for the Los Angeles Kings team of the National Hockey League on Fox Sports West/ Prime Ticket. Miller held that post with the team from 1973 until his retirement in 2017. He was partnered with Jim Fox from 1990 to 2017. Early life and career Miller received his degree in communication studies from the University of Iowa. While there, he began his broadcasting career, covering the school's football and basketball games for campus station WSUI. After his graduation in 1960, Miller began working in television sports journalism in Wisconsin. Mike Corrigan
Michael Joseph Douglas Corrigan (born January 11, 1946) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played 594 games in the National Hockey League. He played for the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Pittsburgh Penguins. From 1981 until 1984, Corrigan also served as an assistant coach to the Penguins. Terry O'Reilly
Terence Joseph James O'Reilly (born June 7, 1951) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. He played for the NHL's Boston Bruins and featured in three Stanley Cup Finals. He was one of the most effective enforcers in NHL history. O'Reilly was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Playing career O’Reilly would play 3 years of junior hockey with the Oshawa Generals from 1968-71. Gerry Cheevers
Gerald Michael Cheevers (born December 7, 1940) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) and World Hockey Association (WHA) between 1961 and 1980. Cheevers is best known for his two stints with the Boston Bruins, whom he helped win the Stanley Cup in 1970 and 1972. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985. Butch Goring
Robert Thomas "Butch" Goring (born October 22, 1949) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach. He played 16 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Islanders and Boston Bruins. A four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Islanders, he has been cited as a key figure of the Islanders dynasty. Since retiring as a player he has served as head coach of both the Bruins and Islanders. The Boston Garden was an arena in Boston, Massachusetts. Designed by boxing promoter Tex Rickard, who also built the third iteration of New York's Madison Square Garden, it opened on November 17, 1928, as "Boston Madison Square Garden" (later shortened to just "Boston Garden") and outlived its original namesake by 30 years. Bob Berry (ice Hockey)
Bob Berry (born November 29, 1943) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger who played eight seasons in the National Hockey League with the Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings between 1968 and 1977.
