The 1974–75 Toronto Toros season was the team's second season in Toronto, after spending their inaugural season as the Ottawa Nationals in 1972–73 Ottawa Nationals season, 1972–73. Winnipeg Jets (1972–96)
The Winnipeg Jets are a professional ice hockey team based in Winnipeg. The Jets compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division (NHL), Central Division in the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. The team is owned by True North Sports & Entertainment, playing its home games at Canada Life Centre. The franchise was established as the Atlanta Thrashers on June 25, 1997, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season. Louis Charles Nistico (25 January 1953 – 27 November 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played 3 games in the National Hockey League and 186 games in the World Hockey Association. He played with the Colorado Rockies, Toronto Toros The Toronto Toros were an ice hockey team based in Toronto that played in the World Hockey Association from 1973 to 1976. History The franchise was awarded to Doug Michel in 1971 for $25,000 to play in the WHA's inaugural 1972–73 WHA season, 19 ..., and Birmingham Bulls. Lou later got back into hockey at the Jr.A level as a GM and Coach in the CJHL, now CCHL. He won championships in Ottawa with the Junior Senators and was also the general manager for the Kanata Stallions and assistant general manager for the Hawkesbury Hawks. Jim Dorey
Robert James Dorey (born August 17, 1947) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played over 650 professional games in the National Hockey League (NHL) and World Hockey Association (WHA). Dorey was a defenceman who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers in the NHL. He also had a long career in the WHA playing for New England Whalers, Toronto Toros and Quebec Nordiques and played on two Avco World Trophy winning teams. Dorey made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs on October 16, 1968 in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, during which he received 48 penalty minutes, an NHL single-game record at the time. His rugged, aggressive style made him as a Leaf mainstay for the next four seasons. The New York Rangers acquired him for Pierre Jarry late in the 1971–72 season, when Maple Leaf management suspected he might be about to jump to the fledgling WHA. The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1972 to 1978. Franchise history In early 1971, the city of Dayton, Ohio was granted a franchise of the fledging World Hockey Association. A syndicate of owners soon rose up to operate the would-be franchise: James Smith, a Dayton lawyer that would serve as team president, Chairman of the Board Paul Deneau, an architectural engineer, public relations director Sonny Tate, and secretary treasurer Jack Evans. The San Diego Mariners were a professional ice hockey team based in San Diego, California, that competed in the World Hockey Association (WHA). The team played its home games at the San Diego Sports Arena. Previous to being in San Diego, the team was known as the New York Raiders, New York Golden Blades, and the Jersey Knights. The Cleveland Crusaders were a professional ice hockey team from Cleveland. They played in the World Hockey Association from 1972–73 WHA season, 1972 to 1975–76 WHA season, 1976.
