1974–75 San Diego Conquistadors Season
The 1974–75 San Diego Conquistadors season was the third and final full season of play for the Conquistadors in the American Basketball Association. While the team was finally was able to play in the San Diego Sports Arena due to the franchise being able to resolve something with proprietor Peter Graham by this time, the Conquistadors still floundered both on the court and in the box office, with Wilt Chamberlain having left the team's coaching staff after the previous season due to his increasing lack of care in being a head coach without playing basketball on his end. They finished fifth in points per game at 109.9, but dead last in points allowed at 115.5 per game. American Basketball Association
The American Basketball Association (ABA) was a major professional basketball league that operated for nine seasons from 1967 to 1976. The upstart ABA operated in direct competition with the more established National Basketball Association throughout its existence. The second of two leagues established in the 1960s after the American Basketball League (1961–1962), American Basketball League, the ABA was the more successful rival to the NBA. UCLA Bruins Men's Basketball
The UCLA Bruins men's basketball program represents the University of California, Los Angeles, in the sport of men's basketball as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Established in 1919, the program has won a record 11 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship, NCAA titles. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Greg Lee (basketball)
Gregory Scott Lee (December 12, 1951September 21, 2022) was an American professional basketball and volleyball player. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, winning back-to-back national championships as their starting point guard in 1972 and 1973. He had short stints in the original American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) before playing four seasons in West Germany. As a volleyball player, Lee teamed with Jim Menges to set a record with 13 consecutive professional beach volleyball titles. He was inducted into the California Beach Volleyball Association's (CBVA) hall of fame. Early life Lee was born in the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles on December 12, 1951. The Fairfield Stags men's basketball team represents Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference of NCAA Division I. Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different positions defined by the strategic role they play. Gus Bailey
Augustus "Gus" Bailey (February 18, 1951 – November 28, 1988) was an American basketball player. He played college basketball for UTEP. Bailey played for the Houston Rockets, New Orleans Jazz, and Washington Bullets in the NBA. Born in Gibson, North Carolina, Bailey played collegiately for the University of Texas at El Paso. He was selected by the Houston Rockets in the 2nd round (23rd pick overall) of the 1974 NBA draft and by the San Diego Conquistadors in the second round of the 1974 ABA Draft. He played for the Rockets (1974–1976), New Orleans Jazz (1976–1979) and Washington Bullets (1979–1980) in the NBA for 147 games.
