The following is the summary of the Swiss National League in the 1974–75 football season, both Nationalliga A and Nationalliga B. This was the 78th season of top-tier and the 77th season of second-tier football in Switzerland. Overview The Swiss Football Association (ASF/SFV) had 28 member clubs at this time which were divided into two divisions of 14 teams each. The teams played a double round-robin to decide their table positions. Two points were awarded for a win and one point was awarded for a draw. The top tier (NLA) was contested by the top 12 teams from the previous 1973–74 season and the two newly promoted teams Luzern and Vevey-Sports. The champions would qualify for the 1975–76 European Cup. The second and third placed teams were qualified for the 1975–76 UEFA Cup. The last two placed teams were relegated. Servette FC
Servette FC is a Swiss professional Association football, football club based in Geneva, founded in March 1890 with rugby as its first sporting activity, and named after the Geneva district of the same name. The football section was created on 17 January 1900. They play in the Swiss Super League. Servette is one of Switzerland's most successful clubs and the most successful Romandy club, winning 17 national titles, as well as 8 Swiss cups. The 1975–76 European Cup Winners' Cup was the 16th season of the European Cup Winners' Cup, a club football tournament organised by UEFA for the winners of its member associations' domestic cup competitions. 1975–76 UEFA Cup
The 1975–76 UEFA Cup was the fifth season of the UEFA Cup, the third-tier club football competition organised by UEFA. The final was played over two legs at Anfield, Liverpool, England and at the Olympiastadion, Bruges, Belgium. It was won by Liverpool of England, who defeated Club Brugge of Belgium by an aggregate result of 4–3 to claim their second UEFA Cup title. This was the first of only two times in the history of the UEFA Cup, its unofficial predecessor Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, or its successor UEFA Europa League where both finalists won their national championship in the same season. Until then, this had only happened twice in the European Cup, and it would only happen once in the European Cup Winners Cup. 1975–76 European Cup
The 1975–76 season of the European Cup football club tournament was won for the third consecutive time by Bayern Munich in the final against Saint-Étienne at Hampden Park, Glasgow. This was the first time that Bayern Munich participated as last year's Cup winners only (Borussia Mönchengladbach won the 1974–75 Bundesliga). It would be another 42 years before a club again won this tournament in three consecutive seasons, this being achieved by Real Madrid in 2018. Only Real Madrid, Ajax, and Bayern Munich won in three consecutive seasons. In France, Saint-Étienne's appearance in the final sparked a huge public enthusiasm.
