1974–75 2. Bundesliga
The 1974–75 2. Bundesliga season was the inaugural season of the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of the German football league system. It was played in two regional divisions, Nord and Süd. Hannover 96, Bayer 05 Uerdingen and Karlsruher SC were promoted to the Bundesliga while Olympia Wilhelmshaven, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, VfL Wolfsburg, HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst, VfR Heilbronn, Borussia Neunkirchen, VfR Wormatia Worms and VfR Mannheim were relegated to the Oberligas and Amateurligas. Hannoverscher Sportverein von 1896, commonly referred to as Hannover 96 (), is a German professional association football, football club based in the city of Hanover, Lower Saxony. They played in the Bundesliga for a total of 30 years between 1964 and 2019 and currently play in the 2. The Bundesliga (; ), sometimes referred to as the Fußball-Bundesliga () or 1. Bundesliga (), is a professional association football league in Germany and the highest level of the German football league system. Aachener Turn- und Sportverein Alemannia 1900 e. V., short Alemannia Aachen (), is a German football club from the western city of Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia. A long-term fixture of the country's second division, Alemannia enjoyed a three-year turn in the Bundesliga in the late 1960s and, after a successful 2005–06 campaign, returned to the first division for a single season. The club slipped to third-division play and in late 2012 entered into bankruptcy. They finished their 2012–13 3. Liga schedule before resuming play in the tier IV Regionalliga West in 2013–14. FC Gütersloh is a German association football club based in Gütersloh, North Rhine-Westphalia. History The club was formed in 1978 out of the merger of the football sides of '' Sport Vereinigung Arminia Gütersloh'' and '' Deutsche Jugendkraft Gütersloh'' in the hopes that the new club would be more successful than its un-storied predecessors. The union was a bit of a surprise because of some ill-will that had existed between the clubs going back to ''Arminia's'' refusal to share their stadium facility with ''DJK'', and so make it possible for them to play in the Regionalliga in the late 1960s. Both sides had bounced back and forth between the second and third division through the late 1960s and into the 1970s. Wacker 04 Berlin was a German football club based in Berlin. The club folded in 1994 after becoming insolvent. ''Wacker'' played at the highest level in Berlin for many years throughout its history, in the Oberliga Berlin-Brandenburg, the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg from 1933 onwards and, finally, the Oberliga Berlin. After the Introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 ''Wacker'' dropped to the second tier Regionalliga Berlin.
