1974 FIFA World Cup
The 1974 FIFA World Cup was the 10th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in West Germany (and West Berlin) between 13 June and 7 July. The tournament marked the first time that the current trophy, the FIFA World Cup Trophy, created by the Italian sculptor Silvio Gazzaniga, was awarded. The previous trophy, the Jules Rimet Trophy, had been won for the third time by Brazil national football team, Brazil in 1970 FIFA World Cup, 1970 and awarded permanently to the Brazilians. West Germany won the title, beating the Netherlands national football team, Netherlands 2–1 in the final at the Olympiastadion (Munich), Olympiastadion in Munich. Norbert Nigbur
Norbert Heinrich Nigbur (born 8 May 1948) is a former German football goalkeeper who played for FC Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC, among others. He was capped six times for the German national team. With Schalke 04, he won the DFB-Pokal in 1972 and was the runner-up in the Bundesliga. He served as a reserve goalkeeper during the national team's victory at the 1974 World Cup. Nigbur also has had successes in harness racing. Career Nigbur initially wanted to train as a harness racing driver, but played football for SV Gelsenkirchen-Hessler in his youth and was initially deployed as a center forward. Helmut Kremers
Helmut Kremers (born 24 March 1949) is a German former professional footballer who played as a full-back. His twin brother, Erwin Kremers, also played as a German international with the two brothers playing with each other regularly. Helmut and Erwin Kremers are the first ever twins to play in the Bundesliga. Hans-Josef "Jupp" Kapellmann (born 19 December 1949 in Bardenberg) is a former West German footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Shining begin his career with recently promoted side Alemannia Aachen in a Bundesliga runner-up season in 1968–69. Kapellmann left Aachen for 1. FC Köln a year later, after Aachen were relegated from the Bundesliga. Kapellmann was a proven regular in midfield with 1. Dieter Herzog
Dieter Herzog (born 15 July 1946 in Oberhausen) is a former German international football player. Herzog played more than 350 Bundesliga matches (69 goals) for Fortuna Düsseldorf and Bayer 04 Leverkusen in his professional career, after starting his senior career with Sportfreunde Hamborn 07 in a lower division and joining Düsseldorf a year before the club returned to the Bundesliga in 1971. He was part of the Düsseldorf team that ended third in the Bundesliga in 1972–73 and 1973–74, the season in which he made the biggest impact. Bernd Hölzenbein (9 March 1946 – 15 April 2024) was a German professional footballer who played as a striker or winger. He played for Eintracht Frankfurt from 1967 to 1981 and is the club's all-time Bundesliga top scorer, having tallied 160 goals in 420 league matches. At the international level, Hölzenbein was a member of the West German team that won the World Cup in 1974. Rainer Bonhof (born 29 March 1952) is a German former professional footballer, who played as a defensive midfielder or wing-back. He was known for his occasional bursts upfield and his fierce shot. He was a key player for the 1974 West Germany national team that won the World Cup (defeating the Netherlands 2–1 in the final, where he provided the assist to the winning goal). Heinz Flohe
Heinz "Flocke" Flohe (28 January 1948 – 15 June 2013) was a German footballer and manager. Career Flohe played for 1. FC Köln (1966–1979), winning the Bundesliga title in 1978, and the DFB-Pokal in 1968, 1977 and 1978. He also played for TSV 1860 Munich (1979–1980). Uli Hoeneß
Ulrich "Uli" Hoeneß (; born 5 January 1952) is a German football executive and former professional player who played as a forward. He played for the West Germany at one World Cup and two European Championships, winning one tournament of each competition. During his playing career, he was primarily associated with Bayern Munich, where he won three Bundesliga titles and three European Cups.
