1971–72 Yorkshire Cup
The 1971–72 Yorkshire Cup was the sixty-fourth occasion on which the Yorkshire Cup competition had been held. Hull Kingston Rovers won the trophy by beating Castleford by the score of 11–7. The match was played at Belle Vue, in the City of Wakefield, now in West Yorkshire. The attendance was 5,536 and receipts were £1,589. The attendance was a Yorkshire Cup final record, the lowest ever, a record which would never be beaten. This is the second time in four seasons that Castleford, (who have never won the trophy, to date) finished as runner-up. Featherstone Rovers are a professional rugby league club in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, England. The club play home games at Post Office Road and currently compete in the Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. Barley Mow, Bramley
Barley Mow was a former home ground of the Bramley RLFC, Bramley rugby league club in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England who moved there in 1881, just two years after their foundation. The club used the nearby Barley Mow public house as changing rooms. In 1907 Barley Mow became the first ground to stage a club match against the 1907–1908 New Zealand rugby tour of Great Britain, touring New Zealanders. In 2007, a blue plaque was added to the Barley Mow pub to mark the anniversary of the tour match. In the 1960s, the club moved to a new ground on adjacent land, which became known as McLaren Field. In 1995, the stadium at MacLaren Field had safety problems that Bramley could not afford to implement and it was demolished to be replaced with housing. Cougar Park is a rugby league stadium in Keighley, England, which is the home stadium of the Keighley Cougars. Its capacity is 7,800 people. Parkside was a rugby league stadium in Hunslet, Leeds, England. It was home to Hunslet F.C. (1883), Hunslet F.C. rugby league club and the source of their nickname, the Parksiders. Hunslet R.L.F.C., Hunslet now play at the South Leeds Stadium which is less than half a mile from the former site of Parkside. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the Leeds city centre, city centre and has an industrial past. Thrum Hall
Thrum Hall was a rugby league stadium on Hanson Lane in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. It was the home of Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax for 112 years. The site on which the ground stood is now occupied by a supermarket. History In 1878, Halifax R.L.F.C., Halifax, who had just won the inaugural Yorkshire Cup (rugby union), Yorkshire Cup, bought a patch of land for £3,000 from a local farmer, Major Dyson, to develop as a new multi-purpose sports ground. It was to be a replacement for their Hanson Lane ground which stood opposite. The site measured 55,000 square yards and included a cricket pitch and bowling greens.
