1969–70 Yorkshire Cup
The 1969–70 Yorkshire Cup was the sixty-second occasion on which the RFL Yorkshire Cup, Yorkshire Cup competition was held. Hull F.C. won the trophy by beating Featherstone Rovers by a score of 12-9. The match was played at Headingley Stadium, Headingley, Leeds, now in West Yorkshire. The attendance was 11,089 and receipts were £3,419. This was only Hull F.C., Hull FC's second Yorkshire Cup win (the previous being in 1923 Yorkshire Cup, 1923) in thirteen final appearances, and in many quarters the club had been classed as "the bridesmaid but never the bride". It was also Featherstone Rovers's first of two successive final defeats. This was the last Yorkshire Cup final for nine years in which the attendance would reach 10,000. Background This season there were no junior/amateur clubs taking part, no new entrants and no "leavers", so the total of entries remained the same, at sixteen. The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, and compete in the Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. Clive Sullivan
Clive Anthony Sullivan MBE (9 April 1943 – 8 October 1985) was a Welsh rugby league footballer. A Great Britain and Wales international winger, he played for Hull F.C. and Hull Kingston Rovers in his career, winning Challenge Cup medals with both clubs, and also played for Oldham and Doncaster. Captaining Great Britain in 1972, he was the first black captain for Great Britain in any sport. He was part of the Great Britain team which won the 1972 Rugby League World Cup. His son, Anthony Sullivan, had a successful career with Hull Kingston Rovers, St. Helens, Wales in both rugby league and union, and Cardiff RFC. Post Office Road (currently known as the Millennium Stadium for sponsorship purposes) is a rugby league ground in Featherstone, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of rugby league club Featherstone Rovers. The ground's current capacity is 6,954. History The ground opened in 1904 and has been used by the club since their formation in 1908. The record attendance is 17,000 from a 1957 game against St. Helens. Mount Pleasant Stadium, officially known for sponsorship purposes as Fox's Biscuits Stadium, is a rugby league stadium in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of the Batley Bulldogs and amateur club Batley ARLFC. The Mount Pleasant pitch is sloped and is on a hill overlooking Batley. The end of the ground at the top of the hill has three grandstands. Behind the rugby posts is a terraced stand, which houses the players changing rooms and executive boxes. At the opposite end at the bottom of the hill is an open terraced stand. The bottom corner of the pitch has a pronounced dip. Cougar Park is a rugby league stadium in Keighley, England, which is the home stadium of the Keighley Cougars. Its capacity is 7,800 people. The Boulevard was a multi-purpose stadium in Kingston upon Hull, Hull, England, from 1895 to 2010. The venue primarily hosted rugby league matches, Motorcycle speedway, speedway and greyhound racing.
