The 1967–68 Iraq Central FA Premier League was the 20th season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Eight teams competed in the tournament, which was played in a single round-robin format rather than a double round-robin format, so each team only played each other once, and it started on 16 November 1967. Aliyat Al-Shorta won the league title for the first time. Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab player Adel Ibrahim was the league's top scorer with five goals. The Iraq Central FA League, previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad League ( ar, دوري الاتحاد العراقي لمنطقة بغداد) and also known as the League of the Institutes ( ar, دوري المؤسسات, ''Dawri Al-Muassasat'') due to containing a number of teams representing different Iraqi institutes, was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. Aliyat Al-Shorta Sport Club ( ar, نادي آليات الشرطة الرياضي, lit=''Police Machinery Sport Club'') is an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad. Its football team plays in the Iraq Division Two. History The Aliyat Al-Shorta team was founded in 1961 by the Police Games Committee. They were promoted to the Iraq Central FA League top-flight in 1963 after winning the third and second divisions in succession, clinching promotion with a 3–1 win over Al-Omma after extra time on 29 June 1963. The 1966–67 Iraq Central FA Premier League was the 19th season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). After the outbreak of the Six-Day War on 5 June 1967, the league was postponed for over a month, with one match remaining from the first half of the season and the second half of the season having not yet started. In July, the Iraq Central Football Association (IFA) decided to cancel all scheduled matches from the second half of the season, and planned to complete the first half of the season by holding its last game between Aliyat Al-Shorta and Al-Firqa Al-Thalitha on 21 August at Al-Shaab Stadium. However, it is unclear if this match ended up taking place, and the league season was reportedly considered as cancelled by the IFA. 1968–69 Iraq Central FA Premier League
The 1968–69 Iraq Central FA Premier League was the 21st season of the Iraq Central FA League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973). Eleven teams competed in the tournament, which was at first played in a round-robin format. After three rounds of the league had taken place, the Iraq Central Football Association (IFA) decided to annul the results of the matches that had been played due to a lack of sufficient funds to complete the rest of the matches. The tournament was restarted under a double-elimination format where teams were eliminated after two defeats, and matches that ended in a draw would be decided by a drawing of lots. Amanat Baghdad Sport Club ( ar, نادي أمانة بغداد الرياضي, lit=Mayoralty of Baghdad) is a football team based in Karkh District, Baghdad, Iraq, that competes in the Iraq Division One, the second tier of Iraqi football. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ( ar, نادي القوة الجوية الرياضي, lit=Air Force Club) is an Iraqi sports club based in Rusafa District, Baghdad that competes in the Iraqi Premier League, the top-flight of Iraqi football. Quwat Salahaddin ( ar, قوات صلاح الدين, lit=''Salahaddin Forces'') was an Iraqi football team based in Habbaniyah which competed in the Iraq Central FA League from the 1962–63 season until the 1972–73 season. Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya ( ar, فريق الكلية العسكرية, lit=''Military College''), known up until 1958 as Al-Kuliya Al-Askariya Al-Malakiya, was an Iraqi football team founded in 1937 in Baghdad. They were the runners-up of Iraq's first ever national cup when they lost the final of the 1948–49 Iraq FA Cup to Sharikat Naft Al-Basra. Al-Naqil Sports Club ( ar, نادي النقل الرياضي, meaning ''Transport Sports Club''), was an Iraqi sports club based in Baghdad that was founded in 1937 under the name Al-Sikak Al-Hadeed ( ar, السكك الحديد, meaning ''Railways''). They were renamed Al-Naqil in 1974, competing in the first season of the Iraqi Premier League (the top tier of Iraqi club football) and finishing as runners-up. The club was dissolved in 1975 as they had no administration or financial backing. Their football players left to join newly-promoted club Al-Zawraa, who went on to become one of Iraqi football's most successful clubs.
